Synopsis

First published in 1851, Moby-Dick by Herman Melville is one of the greatest masterpieces of world literature—a powerful fusion of adventure, philosophy, and psychological depth.

The novel follows Ishmael, a restless sailor who joins the whaling ship Pequod on a voyage across the world's oceans. Commanded by the obsessive and enigmatic Captain Ahab, the journey soon reveals itself to be more than a commercial expedition. Ahab is consumed by a single, terrifying purpose: to hunt and destroy Moby Dick, the legendary white whale that maimed him. As the ship sails farther from civilization, Ahab's monomaniacal quest draws the crew into a fatal struggle between human will and the vast, indifferent forces of nature.

Rich with symbolism and layered with scientific detail, biblical allusion, and philosophical inquiry, Moby-Dick explores timeless themes such as obsession, fate, revenge, the limits of knowledge, and humanity's place in the universe. Melville's innovative narrative blends lyrical prose with dramatic tension, offering both thrilling sea adventure and profound meditation on existence itself.

Bold, complex, and endlessly interpretable, Moby-Dick remains a towering achievement in American literature—a novel that challenges, inspires, and rewards readers with every return voyage.

My entire life has been one terrible moment after the next. And every time I go to sleep, I have the same dream. A goddess telling me that it could all be better if I accept a “mark”. Sounds ridiculous, but deep inside, I can’t help but wonder…
Except that it’s real. A mark that gives me the ability to change the world around me. The only cost? I have to sacrifice myself in filthy and whorish ways.
Magic is at my fingertips, and all I have to do is give myself to my boyfriend however he wants. The more difficult for me, and the more turned on he is, the more I get. Pain, humiliation, and fear will become my friends as my boyfriend pushes me in ways I never imagined.
He’ll take me in ways that will make me cry, make me beg, and make me scream. My body will be bruised, but I’ll still want more. See, the real sacrifice isn’t in the act. It’s in the desperation I’ll feel.

He’s an overprotective bodyguard. The dark-haired grump who makes introverted, good girl me more flustered than usual. And, until he decides I’m safe, he’s also my new roommate.
The business of wedding stationery isn’t supposed to be dangerous. After all, my main occupational hazard is a paper cut.
Then a rival businessman declares war, starting with a few stolen packages and progressing to all-out sabotage and open threats.
I do the only thing I can: I hire a bodyguard to accompany me to my town's local Wedding Expo, the most important event of the year.
What I don’t expect is for Cormac to take the job himself. As the stoic, grumpy co-owner of Elite Security, he should have more important things to worry about than the frazzled introvert floating at the edge of his friend group.
I’m half-convinced I’ve imagined the whole thing, anyway. I’m not in any danger.
    Then my car explodes.
Cormac throws me over his shoulder, dumps me in the passenger seat of his vehicle, and decides that until this is over, I’m not leaving his sight. Everywhere I go, he goes. Every threat to me is a threat to him.
    Also?
    I’m moving in with him.
And I discover my new favorite grump has a softer side.
Like the fact that he owns a cat with the most unexpected name.
Or how he’s close with his family, even when I can tell they drive him crazy.
Or the way he wraps me up in bulletproof armor one minute—and his arms the next.
But no matter how safe and cherished I feel with Cormac, there’s a deranged stationery store owner on the loose with a vendetta against me.
When the villain finally makes his move, I discover exactly what it means to have an overprotective hunk charged with my safety, my heart, and my life…
