Synopsis

First published in 1851, Moby-Dick by Herman Melville is one of the greatest masterpieces of world literature—a powerful fusion of adventure, philosophy, and psychological depth.

The novel follows Ishmael, a restless sailor who joins the whaling ship Pequod on a voyage across the world's oceans. Commanded by the obsessive and enigmatic Captain Ahab, the journey soon reveals itself to be more than a commercial expedition. Ahab is consumed by a single, terrifying purpose: to hunt and destroy Moby Dick, the legendary white whale that maimed him. As the ship sails farther from civilization, Ahab's monomaniacal quest draws the crew into a fatal struggle between human will and the vast, indifferent forces of nature.

Rich with symbolism and layered with scientific detail, biblical allusion, and philosophical inquiry, Moby-Dick explores timeless themes such as obsession, fate, revenge, the limits of knowledge, and humanity's place in the universe. Melville's innovative narrative blends lyrical prose with dramatic tension, offering both thrilling sea adventure and profound meditation on existence itself.

Bold, complex, and endlessly interpretable, Moby-Dick remains a towering achievement in American literature—a novel that challenges, inspires, and rewards readers with every return voyage.

Ash is a walking red flag. He is domineering and always in a bad mood. Tragically widowed, yet still in love with his long-dead wife, a single dad to three mini versions of himself, and much too old for me.
But I’ve wanted him since I was 16. Seeing him again more than a decade later, all those old feelings just rush back in. Every time when I look up into his deep green eyes, dark scruffy beard, and kissable dimples, all I want is to fall into his arms and never leave.
Too much wine and one bed-rocking night later, everything changed.
When my dad discovers I’m knocked up by his best friend, I may lose the two most important people in my life....

The year is 1774, and the Virginia frontier is a powder keg. When ruthless outlaws brutally murder a group of Shawnee Indians, the fragile peace shatters, unleashing a wave of savage reprisals. In the calamitous events that follow, the lives of British colonists, Shawnee warriors, a young enslaved girl, and an Irish indentured servant become inextricably linked in a desperate fight for survival. This isn't just a war for land; it's a battle for their very way of life, threatening to consume everything they hold dear.
As the frontier bleeds, ordinary people are pushed to their limits. Some unearth a remarkable inner strength they never knew they possessed, rising to meet unimaginable challenges with courage and resilience. Others, however, descend into the darkest corners of human nature, their humanity eroded by fear and violence. When the dust settles, no one will emerge unchanged; the crucible of war will forever alter their souls.
Based on actual events meticulously unearthed from previously unpublished 18th-century family records, Through the Fading Darkness plunges you into the raw, untamed world of the American frontier just before the American Revolution. Experience the hope and the heartbreak, the triumphs and the tragedies, through the eyes of a diverse cast of characters, including John Dickinson, Chief Cornstalk, Lydia Townsend, Sylvie, and Chief Logan, alongside dozens of other traders, immigrants, and frontiersmen. This is more than just a historical account; it's a gripping, true-to-life adventure story that reveals the profound sacrifices people made in their relentless pursuit of freedom.

The Emerald City of Oz is the sixth book in L. Frank Baum's Oz series. Originally published on July 20, 1910, it is the story of Dorothy Gale and her Uncle Henry and Aunt Em coming to live in Oz permanently. While they are toured through the Quadling Country, the Nome King is assembling allies for an invasion of Oz. This is the first time in the Oz series that Baum made use of double plots for one of the books.
