Synopsis

In "Thinking as a Science," Henry Hazlitt explores the intricate relationship between logical reasoning and empirical thought, advocating for a disciplined approach to thinking as a means to enhance both personal and societal progress. The book is characterized by Hazlitt's clear and engaging writing style, which merges philosophical inquiry with practical applications. Contextually, it emerges from early 20th-century intellectual movements that sought to understand the intersections of rationality and science, revealing Hazlitt's commitment to using clear logic as a tool to navigate the complexities of contemporary life. Henry Hazlitt, an influential economist and journalist, is renowned for his ability to elucidate complex economic concepts for a general audience. Drawing from his extensive background in economic theory and journalism, Hazlitt applies rigorous analytical skills to the art of thinking itself, positioning this work as a natural extension of his broader intellectual pursuits. His experiences in both the literary and economic fields informed his belief in the value of critical thinking, which permeates this text. "Thinking as a Science" is highly recommended for anyone seeking to sharpen their cognitive abilities and enhance their decision-making skills. Hazlitt's insights are not merely academic; they are essential tools for navigating the challenges of modern life. Engaging with this book will equip readers with a systematic framework for thought, empowering them to think critically and act wisely in an increasingly complex world.

From a hidden spark in the early days of 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic soon roared across every nation, decimating lives, economies, and social norms. Rather than uniting people to defeat a common enemy, the pandemic has widened economic, political, and social divisions everywhere. It has pitted faith against reason and inflamed the global scourges of poverty, racism, war, and environmental destruction.
The pandemic has also surfaced proposals to remake the global economy and society. Most notable—and infamous—are a set of recommendations from the 2020 World Economic Forum calling for “the Great Reset.” Blending welfare state socialism and monopoly capitalism, this would systematically eliminate a fundamental bulwark of personal independence and freedom—the universal right to, and rights of, private property.
Is the Great Reset the malevolent scheme of a vast global elite to control the lives of ordinary people or a well-intentioned but dangerously misguided approach to correct systemic ills? Regardless, there is a question we all must ask: how will the dignity, freedom, and power of each human person be protected and promoted when universal human rights and their Transcendent Source have been rendered irrelevant? In The Greater Reset, Greaney and Brohawn trace the historical, religious, political, and economic roots of humanity’s perilous condition and how returning to God-given, universal principles of natural law, with equal access to the institutions of the common good, can help build a more just, liberating, prosperous, and hopeful future for every person.

Pamela takes readers on a heart-wrenching and hilarious road trip from toddler to adulthood with Clark Kent and his family, sharing their collective wisdom and empathy along the way.
Are you one of "those" parents? If so, pour a cup of coffee, grab a tissue, and stay for a while. You're in the company of a good friend.
A Mother's Tale Of Life With Her ADHD And Asperger's Son
They’re the parents who other people secretly believe must be doing a crappy job, the ones whose children don lacrosse gloves to weed the flowerbed, won’t turn in their homework, and throw age-inappropriate tantrums in public. They’re the parents one frayed nerve short of a breakdown as they scrub off the giant perceived “L” for Loser from their foreheads, turning for help to every source they can think of, because their kids just don’t respond like other kids, because their kids aren’t like other kids. The very brains of their children are wired differently, and the disciplines, motivators, and strategies that are supposed to work on them, according to conventional wisdom, don’t.
These are the parents of children on the ADHD Spectrum, and most of them have used up their Phone a Friend Lifeline and just want a little understanding and the hope of shared knowledge from someone else who has survived a life like theirs. They are parents like Pamela Fagan Hutchins, whose son, dubbed “Clark Kent the WonderKid,” has ADHD and Asperger’s Syndrome.
Pamela takes readers on a heart-wrenching and hilarious road trip from toddler to adulthood with Clark Kent and his family, sharing their collective wisdom and empathy along the way.

It doesn’t seem like Enver Pasha was a good man. His war crimes have caused the deaths of millions of innocent citizens. Sure, during a war and a collapsing empire, you try to do what you can to stop losing, but I doubt anyone in the right mind can justify his actions, which included the slaughter of minorities in the Ottoman Empire during World War 1, and even the Armenian Genocide, which consisted of releasing prisoners upon the Armenian population to have their way and abuse, murder, rape, and pillage. Deportation of Armenians to remote areas, away from their homes, caused many to starve, drown, or become severely ill. And to this day, the Turkish government is still somewhat reluctant to acknowledge the severity of that historical atrocity.
Let’s learn more about Enver Pasha in this book, as far as history reaches into the depths of time, and find out what made him the way he became, what circumstances contributed to his reactions and commands, and the details of what he did.

The Tainos - Rise and Decline of...

    Irving Rouse

Drawing on archeological and ethno-historical evidence, Irving Rouse sketches a picture of the Tainos—the first people Columbus encountered when he arrived in the Americas—as they existed during the time of Columbus, contrasting their customs with those of their neighbors. He then moves backward in time to the ancestors of the Tainos—two successive groups who settled the West Indies and who are known to archeologists as the Saladoid peoples and the Ostionoid peoples. By reconstructing the development of these groups and studying their interaction with other groups during the centuries before Columbus, Rouse shows precisely who the Tainos were. He vividly recounts Columbus's four voyages, the events of the European contact, and the early Spanish views of the Tainos, particularly their art and religion. The narration shows that the Tainos did not long survive the advent of Columbus. Weakened by forced labor, malnutrition, and diseases introduced by the foreigners, and dispersed by migration and intermarriage, they ceased to exist as a separate population group.

As Rouse discusses the Tainos' contributions to the Spaniards—from Indian corn, tobacco, and rubber balls to art, artifacts, and new words—we realize that their effect on Western civilization, brief through their contact, was an important and lasting one.
