Summary

Helena Petrovna Blavatsky (1831-1891), née Hahn Von Rottenstern, often known as Madame Blavatsky, was a Russian mystic and author who co-founded the Theosophical Society in 1875. She gained an international following as the primary founder of Theosophy as a belief system.Blavatsky was a controversial figure during her lifetime, championed by supporters as an enlightened sage and derided as a charlatan by critics. Her Theosophical doctrines influenced the spread of Hindu and Buddhist ideas in the West as well as the development of Western esoteric currents like Ariosophy, Anthroposophy, and the New Age Movement. She wrote fundamental essays, including Isis Unveiled, The Secret Doctrine, The Key to Theosophy and The Voice of the Silence. The Blavatsky’s article Psychic and Noetic Action, which we propose to our readers today, was published in October-November 1880 in the Lucifer Magazine.According to Blavatsky, holding to our motto, “There is no religion higher than truth”, we refuse most decidedly to pander to physical science. Yet, we may say this: If the so-called exact sciences limited their activity only to the physical realm of nature: if they concerned themselves strictly with surgery, chemistry—up to its legitimate boundaries, and with physiology—so far as the latter relates to the structure of our corporeal frame, then the Occultists would be the first to seek help in modern sciences, however many their blunders and mistakes. But once that over-stepping material Nature the physiologists of “animalistic” school pretend to meddle with, and deliver ex cathedra dicta on, the higher functions and phenomena of the mind, saying that a careful analysis brings them to a firm conviction that no more than the animal is man a free-agent, far less a responsible one—then the Occultist has a far greater right than the average modern “Idealist” to protest.

In a world where every day brings news of a new terrorist atrocity whether in an airport, on a train or bus or at a night spot, theatre, restaurant, market place, or tourist attraction, we must open our eyes and become aware of what is happening around us. Unfortunately these days if we are in public places we must be vigilant.International terrorism remains a serious threat to British, European, and US nationals living or travelling overseas. Attacks can occur anywhere in the world, usually with little or no warning. Terrorist attacks abroad will continue to target western interests, including British, European, and US tourists, travellers and expatriates. There is considered to be a heightened threat of terrorist attack globally against UK, European, and US interests and nationals from groups or individuals motivated by the conflict in Iraq and Syria.Increasingly terrorists look for targets that aren’t well-protected places, and where westerners can be found. These include places like bars, restaurants, shops, places of worship, tourist sites and transport networks. Significant dates, anniversaries, public holidays, religious festivals and political events have been targeted. The risk to aviation including at airports is clear from recent terrorist attacks. No country can give an absolute guarantee of security standards at its airports, but some airports may be less able to protect against terrorist attacks than others. The UK and its international partners continue to work closely with many countries, and with the aviation industry to reduce the threat, with additional security measures in place for direct flights to the UK and US where necessary. This audiobook provides clear, simple, unambiguous advice which if followed will make your journey overseas less stressful and keep you out of harms way.

The rapid pace of technological and social change has become the defining characteristic of modern life. We live in an age where innovation is constant, and the desire to keep up with it is almost addictive. From the devices we use daily to the way we communicate, everything is designed to keep us moving forward, often faster than we can comprehend. The term "progress" is no longer just about improvement but about a relentless drive toward the future, regardless of the consequences.
This addiction to progress is rooted in a deep-seated desire for convenience, efficiency, and constant connectivity. We crave faster internet speeds, smarter devices, and more advanced systems that promise to make life easier. But while these innovations offer undeniable benefits, they also come with hidden costs. Our dependency on technology is eroding our attention spans, compromising our ability to focus, and distancing us from meaningful face-to-face interactions. The pursuit of the next big thing has led to an overwhelming sense of urgency in nearly every aspect of life.
For the generation growing up in this environment, the pressure to adapt to this ever-evolving landscape is immense. Instant gratification has become the standard, with everything from entertainment to communication available at the touch of a button. Yet, this convenience comes at the expense of deeper connections and long-term fulfillment. With the rise of social media, the need for constant validation and approval has become ingrained in the fabric of our daily lives, leaving little room for reflection or introspection.
