Synopsis

Once the great Glacier enclosed the Raumsdalian Empire. Now it's broken open, and Count Hamnet Thyssen faces a new world. With the wisecracking Ulric Skakki, the neighboring clan leader Trasamund (politely addressed as Your Ferocity), and his lover, the shaman Liv, Hamnet leads an exploration of the new territory in hopes of finding the legendary Golden Shrine. But dangers abound. A violent and implacable group known as the Rulers has already killed many, and now they attack again. Riding deer and woolly mammoths and using powerful magic, the Rulers triumph and force the Raumsdalians to flee. In the spring another battle ends even more badly for Hamnet's side, but the Glacier is also retreating, so they are able to escape. Meeting a tribe whose desperate living conditions have led them to overcome the Raumsdalian taboo against eating fallen foes, they find unexpected allies. Now, returning to the capital city and its intrigues, Hamnet prepares to lead an army against the merciless Rulers. The world, once so bounded and comprehensible, will never be the same…in Harry Turtledove's The Breath of God. When astronomers announce that the Moon has been torn from its orbit and is racing toward Earth, panic spreads across the globe—but escape is impossible. Civilization braces for impact as oceans rise, winds roar, and the sky turns a haunting copper color. In the remote wilderness of Labrador, a pilot and a wireless operator find themselves unexpectedly positioned to survive the greatest catastrophe humanity has ever faced.
As the Moon draws nearer, they endure relentless storms, earthquakes, and tidal waves, witnessing forces of nature beyond comprehension. What follows is not just the destruction of the world they knew, but a startling transformation of the planet itself. When the Moon Fell is a sweeping, thought-provoking vision of cosmic disaster, resilience, and the fragile hope of rebuilding after the unthinkable.
Morrison Colladay was an early science-fiction writer whose work captured the era’s fascination with astronomy, aviation, and the power of scientific inquiry. Writing at a time when radio communication and flight were reshaping human possibility, Colladay blended scientific speculation with vivid, grounded storytelling.
Though little is known about his personal life, Colladay’s fiction reflects a deep respect for scientists, explorers, and ordinary individuals facing extraordinary circumstances. When the Moon Fell stands as his most enduring contribution—a bold, imaginative tale that reflects both the anxieties and the optimism of early twentieth-century science fiction.

Stephen Melillo unveils a mesmerizing narrative that takes you beyond the pages of Melville's classic masterpiece, "Moby Dick." Who was Captain Ahab before he became consumed by his relentless pursuit of the white whale? What passions stirred in his heart? What trials sculpted his soul into the iconic figure we think we know?
Beneath the surface of Ahab's obsession lies a heart that once beat for life's grandeur. Melillo masterfully weaves a tale that blends historical accuracy with a touch of the imagined, drawing you into a world where Ahab lived, loved, and breathed. The meticulous research is evident as every ship's name, every astrological event, and every geographical detail aligns seamlessly with reality, immersing you in a world that could well have existed.
At the heart of it all is young Ahab, a captivating fictional creation brought to life against the backdrop of authentic history. As the narrative unfolds, the line between fact and fiction blurs, leaving you to ponder whether the tale of young Ahab might be more real than you ever dared to believe. Melillo introduces us to Abie & Abbie, characters so vivid and tangible that a sequel to the beloved classic has also been composed, entitled, “Death to Moby Dick, a Love Story”.
"Ahab, a Love Story" is a journey through time and emotion, a symphony of words that resonates with the essence of life's intricate beauty. The Audio version, told by the author, is also poignantly scored with original Music.
Prepare to be captivated, moved, and transported to a realm where the known merges with the unknown. Set sail on this literary odyssey, and may your heart find its own answers amidst the waves of Ahab's poignant tale.
Enjoy the voyage and Godspeed! Isaac, for Stephen Melillo, Composer
