Beschreibung

Gravity’s Core Principles explores the pervasive influence of gravity, a fundamental force shaping our universe. It begins with familiar concepts like mass and distance, then transitions to Einstein's General Relativity, revealing gravity not as a simple attraction but as the curvature of spacetime caused by mass and energy. Did you know that the first direct detection of gravitational waves in 2015 confirmed a key prediction of Einstein’s theory? Or that understanding gravity is crucial for accurately predicting the trajectories of interplanetary probes? This book uniquely balances historical context with modern theories, starting from early philosophical ideas about falling objects and progressing to sophisticated models used in astrophysics and cosmology today. Accessible explanations and clear visualizations help demystify complex equations, allowing motivated learners to grasp essential concepts. The book progresses systematically, first establishing Newtonian gravity as a foundation before delving into General Relativity, gravitational lensing, and black holes. It concludes with discussions of ongoing research into gravitational waves and potential future discoveries, like quantum gravity. This textbook emphasizes both Newtonian and Einsteinian gravity, providing a deep yet accessible understanding of gravitational physics.

New York Times best-selling author Patrick Lencioni unveils a truly groundbreaking new model that will change the way we think about work and teams forever.
The 6 Types of Working Genius is the fastest way to help people identify the type of work that brings them joy and energy, and avoid work that leads to frustration and burnout.
Beyond the personal discovery and instant relief that Working Genius provides, the model also gives teams a remarkably simple and practical framework for tapping into one another’s natural gifts, which increases productivity and reduces unnecessary judgment.
In classic Lencioni fashion, Pat brings his model to life in a thrilling fable that is as relatable as it is compelling. He tells the story of Bull Brooks, an entrepreneur, husband, and father who sets out to solve his own frustration at work and stumbles into a new way of thinking that changes the way he sees his work, his team, and even his marriage.
What sets this book—and the model behind it—apart from other tools and assessments is the speed at which it can be understood and applied, and the relevance it has to every kind of work in life, from running a company to launching a product to managing a family.

The Byzantine Empire was the heir to two great cultures that cradled and nurtured European civilization: Greece and Rome. Constantinople, now called Istanbul, became a center of power, culture, trade, and technology poised on the edges of Europe and Asia, and its influence was felt not only throughout Europe but the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia, and the Far East. Coins dating from the reign of Emperor Justinian I (r.527-565) have been found in southern India, and Chinese records show that the “Fulin,” as the Chinese named the Byzantines, were received at court as early as 643. For nearly a thousand years, the Byzantine Empire protected Europe from Islamic powers, allowing it to pursue its own destiny, and Byzantium was a polyglot society in which a multitude of ethnic groups lived under the emperor prizing peace above war.
Of course, it wasn’t an accident that Constantinople survived for so long. Since ancient times, settlements have been protected by walls, ranging from simple earth fortifications, mounds, and ditches to sophisticated structures incorporating gates and watchtowers. The globe is replete with famous walls such as that built by Hadrian in the north of England and the Great Wall of China, which spans hundreds of miles across a vast landscape. Some of the earliest evidence of defensive walling can be found in Africa, and the Bible includes references to the walls of Jericho, dating back to at least the 8th century B.C. Walls have protected great civilizations and occasionally been their downfall, and the Byzantine Empire relied on Constantinople’s extensive, sophisticated walls, among the greatest engineering achievements of the ancient world and Early Middle Ages, to survive as long as it did.
The Fourth Crusade was the turning point for the Crusades; after this one, the slow decline toward the Latin Christians losing the Holy Land became inevitable.

Tyrese and Rev are the unlikeliest of best friends—Rev is married with six kids, and Tyrese is a single dad still hesitant to settle down. But after an unexpected argument in which Rev insisted that marriage is forever, and Tyrese countered that you could bail when the sex went bad, the two decided not just to agree to disagree but to team up and open their debate to a larger audience.
Manology will help you weed out the cheaters, manipulators, and pimps from the good men, and it will give you the tools to know if your man is the marrying kind. In “Manology after Dark,” the guys even give the lowdown on what men need in bed, before and after they put a ring on your finger. Some behavior can’t be changed, but as Tyrese and Rev share, it’s better to face the truth. With Rev’s hard-earned knowledge on how to make a marriage work, and Tyrese’s sometimes uncomfortable but always honest take on the single man’s mind-set, Manology is your one source to help you take control of your love life and truly understand your man.

This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice.
This book is the story of my life—a life lived throughout the twentieth century. A time when parents stood on the porch and yelled or whistled for you to come home. With no A/C, we spent endless summer nights with the windows open, hoping for a breeze. My cousins and I often attempted risky adventures in our playful moments—and we lived through them. I would not change a thing.
Today, my children are reflecting my upbringing in the way they are raising their own children, and I am proud of them.
We lived for several decades in Las Vegas, and yet violence was never a part of our lives. I believe that children learn their behavior from how they are raised. If there is violence in the home, they will display the same. If there is comfort, love of God, and love for others, that will show as well. I hope this book inspires parents everywhere to be wonderful, devoted, and loving. This is my prayer. — Johnnie Beatty
