Sinopse

Joe Crowne is a poor boy from Brooklyn with a burning ambition to write… to be a storyteller. Thanks to natural street smarts and ruthless ambition, Joe tears himself free from a world of gangsters, drug dealers, prostitutes, and pimps. In his sights is the unmatched glamour of Hollywood… the dolce vita of Europe… and all the glitter and self-indulgence that comes with success. Yet as much as Joe wants fame, excess, and easy sex, he hungers for real love. The Storyteller is a ticket to the hidden fantasy world of beautiful people, to luxury and desire... it is the story of a brilliant young man whose every American dream came true.At the Publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied.

Taking a break from his studies, Thomas travels to Greece to more fully understand the origin of western culture. In Delphi, he meets a young Mexican actress named Lucia who performs for him—in Spanish—a scene from Euripides’s Electra. Lucia’s talents exceed mere acting; sometimes she hears voices, seemingly echoes from the distant past. Thomas enlists the aid of a brilliant high school chum to help unravel the mystery of these “voices”. The three of them continue their travels through Greece, eventually joined by a young Jesuit who turns out to have an agenda of his own.

Sir Anthony Hope Hawkins was born on 9th February 1863 in Clapton, London.
He was educated at St John's School, Leatherhead, Marlborough College and Balliol College, Oxford. Hope trained as a lawyer and barrister and was called to the Bar by the Middle Temple in 1887. Despite what was thought to be a promising legal career he had literary ambitions and wrote in his spare time.
His early works appeared in various periodicals of the day but for his first book ‘A Man of Mark’ (1890), with no publisher interested, he published with his own resources.
More novels and short stories followed, including the mildly successful ‘Mr Witt's Widow’ in 1892. Hope even found time to run as the Liberal candidate for Wycombe in the election that same year but was unsuccessful.
His first major literary success came with ‘The Dolly Dialogues’, a collection of previously published magazine pieces followed very quickly by his instant classic, ‘The Prisoner of Zenda’. He now gave up the vestiges of his legal career to pursue writing full-time.
Despite never again reaching the same pinnacle of success he was popular and wrote prolifically across novels, plays and of course, short stories though his writing output rapidly diminished after the war.
In 1918 he was knighted for his contribution to propaganda efforts during World War I.
His short stories are delicate, mannered and often surprising with their wit, humour and interplay of characters who say one thing and usually mean another. He was very definitely a writer of escapist rather than serious fare but they are no less enjoyable for that.
Anthony Hope died of throat cancer on 8th July 1933 at his country home, Heath Farm at Walton-on-the-Hill in Surrey. He was 70.

Fans of C.J. Box’s Joe Pickett and Craig Johnson’s Walt Longmire will be hooked by Patrick Flint.
“Best books I’ve read in a long time!”
When Patrick Flint volunteers at the underfunded Indian Health Services clinic on the Wind River Reservation, he expects hard work—but not murder. Amid a series of brutal winter blizzards, communication is cut off, and Patrick discovers Big Mike Teton, a tribal council member, dead in the clinic parking lot. Poisoning seems likely, but local law enforcement—and even Big Mike’s widow, the charming clinic manager Constance—dismiss the idea.
Stranded in the storm, Patrick must follow the evidence and his instincts to uncover the killer before anyone else is hurt. Back home, his wife Susanne juggles a family visit, a counteroffer on their dream house, and a missing husband, only to find that Patrick isn’t the only one interested in the good doctor.
Full of suspense, family drama, and the rugged beauty of 1970s Wyoming, Snake Oil is the second gripping installment in the Patrick Flint series, a thrilling spin-off from the What Doesn’t Kill You super series. Available in digital, print, and audiobook.
If you love C.J. Box or Craig Johnson, you’ll devour Pamela Fagan Hutchins’ Patrick Flint series. A former attorney, Pamela lives off-the-grid in Wyoming’s Bighorn Mountains, experiencing the adventure, danger, and beauty she writes about with her husband, rescue dogs and cats, and enormous horses.
Praise from readers:“A Bob Ross painting with Alfred Hitchcock hidden among the trees.”“Edge-of-your-seat nail biter.”“Unexpected twists!”“So beautifully descriptive… full of action, heart, and suspense.”“Absolutely unputdownable.”

Sister Mary Thomas stumbles into a manor house and when she is mistaken for its Baroness she discovers she now has the power to liberate peasants threatened in new ways and perhaps even build a community where all can ask, "what happens if I get what I have always wanted?"
That's where the danger lies: their freedom is a threat to powerful people determined to keep what is theirs.
