Written by Hannah Collingridge, it includes thousands of kilometres of singletrack, cross-country, downhill, freeride and bike park riding at over 130 dedicated MTB centres. Featured centres include established riding spots such as BikePark Wales, Glentress, Rostrevor and Dalby Forest, as well as volunteer-run centres such as the pioneering trails at Lady Canning's Plantation and Grenoside Woods near Sheffield and more recent venues such as Dyfi Bike Park, set up by the Athertons.
Each riding spot features information on the number of trails and their length, style and difficulty; facilities such as parking, uplift, bike hire and shops and refreshments; and local information. There's also stunning action photography throughout the book. Keep The Dirt Directory in your car or van – it's your indispensable riding companion.

This book chronicles the creation of Everglades National Park, the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States. Prior to the park's creation, the Everglades was seen as a reviled and useless swamp, unfit for typical recreational or development projects.

Park advocates drew on new ideas concerning the value of biota and ecology, the importance of wilderness, and the need to protect habitats, marine ecosystems, and plant life to redefine the Everglades. Using these ideas, the Everglades began to be recognized as an ecologically valuable and fragile wetland—and thus a region in need of protective status.

While these new ideas foreshadowed the later emergence of modern environmentalism, tourism and the economic desires of Florida's business and political elites also impacted the park's future. These groups saw the Everglades' unique biology and ecology as a foundation on which to build a tourism empire.

Yet, even after the park's creation, conservative landowners successfully fought to limit the park and saw it as a threat to their own economic freedoms. The battle to save the swamp's biodiversity continues, and Everglades Park stands at the center of ongoing restoration efforts.

Navigating the world of airline pricing can be a daunting task for travelers seeking affordable flights. Prices fluctuate based on various factors, including demand, seasonality, and booking timing. Understanding these dynamics is essential for identifying the best deals and making informed travel decisions. In this chapter, we will explore the complexities of airline pricing, including how fare classes impact costs, the significance of booking in advance, and the advantages of being flexible with travel dates. By grasping these concepts, you’ll be better equipped to secure the most economical flights for your adventures.

Airlines utilize a complex pricing structure influenced by multiple factors to determine ticket prices. One of the primary components is the concept of supply and demand. When demand for a particular route is high, airlines are likely to raise ticket prices to maximize revenue. Conversely, during periods of low demand, airlines may lower prices to attract more customers.
Another critical factor in ticket pricing is fare classes. Airlines typically categorize tickets into different fare classes, each with its own price point and conditions. These classes can range from economy to first class, with prices adjusted based on the amenities and flexibility offered. For instance, a ticket in a higher fare class may allow for free cancellations or changes, while a lower fare may come with stricter restrictions.
