Synopsis

🎀 Quilt shop owner and strip piecing expert Ruby Rollins is celebrating the launch of her new jelly roll collection when the fabric company's quality control inspector—known for rejecting innovative designs—is found dead in her shop, tangled in a massive unrolled jelly roll of her newest fabric line. The police suspect a bizarre accident, but Ruby notices the fabric strips have been deliberately misaligned and the victim's inspection reports contain color-coded rejection notes that form a pattern. With her fabric line launch in chaos and the quilting community watching, Ruby must unroll this mystery strip by strip. Assisted by her quilting team and the handsome color theorist analyzing fabric dye lots, Ruby uncovers a scheme involving manipulated colorways, stolen gradient designs, and a plot to sabotage emerging fabric designers. From suspicious strip widths that reveal manufacturing defects to color sequences that don't follow the intended pattern, every rolled strip tells a story. But when Ruby discovers the victim was systematically rejecting unique fabric collections to steal the designs for a rival company, she realizes the killer is protecting creative innovation more valuable than any pre-cut bundle. With the quilt market approaching and the real saboteur still rolling out deception, Ruby must straighten out the truth before her own designs get permanently scrapped.
