Beschreibung

THE WORLD SET FREE was written in 1913 and published early in 1914, and it is the latest of a series of three fantasias of possibility, stories which all turn on the possible developments in the future of some contemporary force or group of forces. The World Set Free was written under the immediate shadow of the Great War. Every intelligent person in the world felt that disaster was impending and knew no way of averting it, but few of us realised in the earlier half of 1914 how near the crash was to us. The reader will be amused to find that here it is put off until the year 1956.

Noteworthy for its depiction of fictional ''atomic bombs'' which eerily prefigure the development of real nuclear weapons.

The Minerva Sierra Challenge is a grueling spectacle, the cyborg’s Tour de France.
Rich thrill seekers with corporate sponsorships, extensive support teams, and topof-the-line exoskeletal and internal augmentations pit themselves against the
elements in a daylong race across the Sierra Nevadas.
Marmeg Guinto doesn’t have funding, and she doesn’t have support. She cobbled
her gear together from parts she found in rich people’s garbage and spent the
money her mother wanted her to use for nursing school to enter the race. But the
race is the only chance she has at a better life for herself and her younger
brothers, and she’s ready to risk it all.

    Summary
In a world filled with couples, regardless of gender or species, there are always a few misfits that don't quite belong. In this story, there are at least five, if not more, significant misfits that finally create their own niche, the Loner's Niche, where outgoing narcissists aren't welcomed.
The five individual stories that'll be intertwined are as follows and begin with Kiernan Prawn, and he's an exciting person indeed. Please keep reading for more details on what comes next.
    Kiernan Prawl's Tale
The first story will focus on Kiernan Prawl, an individual who is non-binary and is proud of the fact. He's also a hot-tempered delinquent who'll pick a fight anytime. However, he does have a few friends he gets along with even if he doesn't see them all that often; they're involved in different schools and activities than him.
Kiernan accepts that he doesn't fit in with his group. While his birth certificate shows him as male, he sometimes goes around as a female just to cut loose and have fun.
When Kiernan roams around as "Kila," he has a freedom that doesn't come to him as Kiernan, and yet he is still just as lonely. One night, he goes to a new club recommended by a drinking buddy. While skittish because the location is in one of the worst neighborhoods, Kiernan is still tempted to go, but not as his male self. He does send messages to a few close individuals, letting them know where he went, just on the possibility of something going down. He doesn't anticipate trouble when going as Kila, a mistake Kiernan hadn't realized would land him in a fiery pit of pain.
That'll also be the actual test of friendship. Will Kiernan's friends come to aid or leave the individual to fate? That'll be answered eventually.

No one knows for certain what caused the Shadow to come into existence. Clerics say it was the gods laying a curse upon this world. Philosophers maintain that the Shadow of Strix is nothing short of a blessing and new milestone in human progress. But both sides agree that the Shadow will eventually swallow up this world and change it beyond recognition.

However, there are also the mages, and they think the whole debate is just so much hot air. They accept the Shadow as is with all its horrors and wonders. Furthermore, for the last several centuries, mages have risked their lives attempting to harness the Shadow's Power for themselves.

Unsurprisingly, only a select few have access to knowledge about the Shadow's magic. Max Renard understands that, so he chooses a different and more hazardous path. He decides to head for the frontier himself to experience the Shadow's Power firsthand.

Entering service in his castle as the Least Jester, she must find a way to earn her wings while navigating the hazards of cupcakes, tea demons, and the occasional Earth dragons. My Sister's Song: Fantasy and history and subversive strategy collide in this Roman-era tale of a warrior, Mithra, who must repel an entire legion alone and armed only with a very peculiar weapon. Her sticky solution to this impossible problem must be heard to be believed.
