Synopsis

These poems are about the unbelievable mess we can make of our lives when we are addicted to any mood altering drugs. They are also about the unbelievable clarity and purpose we can achieve when we are separated from this addiction. These poems are more importantly about discovering something greater than myself which now guides my thoughts and actions. For those who find themselves reading this book I hope that you find something greater than yourself too.

"One NIght" Is an original one act play written by Christopher Swann that lasts just over 75 minutes.
On one night in November 1920 two Officers were tasked with choosing the "Unknown Warrior" who was to be laid to rest in Westminster Abbey. They entered a small chapel in Northern France where six coffins of the unidentified military dead rested, having been brought from the battlefields of Belgium and France. The Officers entered at dusk to choose one from those six coffins and left the chapel at dawn. No one knows what happened that night and what kept the two Officers - a General and a Colonel who had both served in and survived World War One - in the chapel and why they stayed the whole night. This play is an imagining of that One Night and the dilemma that faced them in making the choice. As they consider which coffin to pick and mull over the randomness that has brought these six unknown soldiers to the chapel, the voices of men of other ranks and a bereaved Mother are heard - all are ghosts who died in the Great war. The play has received professional performances in the UK. This audio book is a Radio version of "One Night" which is a play in one act.It was recorded in an audio studio in Birmingham with a professional cast and directed and written by the award winning Director Christopher Swann. The Script of the theatrical version of the play is published on Lulu.com at

"A kaleidoscopic and finely-tuned voice full of acuity, wit, intelligence and, perhaps most importantly, a deep and defiant love for a world burning at its edges. I am so grateful to have come upon this true poet." —Ocean Vuong
A gorgeous collection of poems exploring womanhood, sisterhood, love, loss, and longing, for people who find catharsis in poems, or people who have always wanted to read poetry, but don’t know where to start.

Beautifully narrated by Rebecca Lowman with original music by Will Anderson.
“How little / love is. How worth everything.” Such is the central theme of Courtney Kampa’s sharp yet tender “Skin and Other Weapons,” one in a collection of beautiful, intimate poems examining the little shared experiences that make us human. Courtney herself was the kind of person who made life better just for knowing her, and though she tragically passed in 2022, her work carries her brilliance and light forward. While Courtney is no longer here, her husband Will Anderson notes that converting readers to poetry was one of her greatest joys, and this collection will make a convert of any reader.
Courtney wrote for the girls she was raised with and the women she was raised by. She wrote for herself—which is to say, she wrote for so many of us. In “Cartography,” a group of friends dissects the end of a relationship with a woman who, through the telling, becomes “meaner now, and / more beautiful.” In “The Rules” she writes “I don’t believe in girlhood. I don’t believe / we are ever small, or ever don’t know what it is / we shouldn’t know,” challenging the sweetness and innocence constantly attributed to little girls who live in a world that is neither sweet nor innocent. In “The Cool Kids,” the speaker, desperate to belong but horrified by what her peers require of her, wonders “if this is what it feels like / to be pinned down by the sky.”
Individually, each of these poems feels like advice from a friend who knows you deeply, and provides a sense of comfort and validation. Taken as a whole, the collection tells a larger story of growth—of the love and loss involved—and learning how to exist in the world. As accessible as they are transcendent, these poems will leave readers feeling as if they have been “anointed with a bright and borrowed light.”

The heroic story of the siege of Troy is as enthralling today as it ever was.

The Greeks are entering the tenth year of their war with the Trojans, but their armies are fractured and their best warrior Achilles has abandoned the battle on a mission of revenge. Only the death of his best friend Patroclus persuades Achilles to return to battle and confront the Trojan leader Hector in single combat.

The Iliad is the oldest surviving work of Western literature and provides a powerful glimpse into the horrors and heroics of war - a message which undoubtedly endures today. This edition provides an accessible prose translation by the classical scholar and novelist Samuel Butler. Butler is considered one of the finest English writers of the late Victorian era, and his translation one of the most accessible and satisfying.
