Synopsis

In this e-book original, The Teens They Are a-Changin', strips from the popular cartoon strip Luann reflect the ups and downs of being a teen-age girl. Luann’s transition into womanhood is interrupted by her friend Bernice’s unexpected makeover, which attracts the attention of every guy in school. Bernice, once jealous of Luann’s maturity, turns the tables, leaving Luann jealous of her once socially awkward friend’s newfound confidence. In an unexpected turn, the high school rumor mill churns out gossip that Luann is going to have plastic surgery, which Gunther misinterprets as brain surgery. After the rumor is expelled, Gunther, caught up in all the hubbub of appearances, dons a “manlier” look. Brad gets his head shaved at Diane’s request while Luann’s dad adjusts to his wife’s new look. Featuring funny and revealing behind-the-scenes commentary by creator, Greg Evans.Readers of all ages love Luann, a strip about the trials of becoming a young adult. Known for its rich characters and intriguing “what will happen next” storylines, Luann enjoys a reader loyalty rare on the comic page, consistently ranking among the top five in reader surveys. Greg Evans was voted Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year in 2003 by the National Cartoonists Society, partly for his efforts in holding up Luann as a fine example of the positive power comic strips can have. “My aim is to touch readers’ hearts as well as their funny bones,” says Evans, who’s humorously touched on serious issues such as peer pressure, drugs, alcohol and young love. “Adolescence is a very funny time—except when you’re in it.”

IT HAD TURNED OUT TO BE A VERY POWERFUL AND WICKED STORM AFTER ALL...
This amazingly talented South African weaverbird encounters challenges he never imagined. Tahir finds his way to the acacia tree and sits under it, listening to the heartbreaking sounds coming from the birds. Teary eyed, he surveys the damage one last time, before flying off into the night. The special colored twigs he once held in his hand, were now left behind, lying under the acacia tree, as he flew off into the dark.
After flying aimlessly through the night, Tahir lands on a nearby patch of Savanna trees, housing a colony of weaverbirds. In the bright sunshine, he listens to the playful chatter of the young birds. What a stark contrast from what he left behind.
The Weaverbirds is an imaginative, whimsical and adventurous fantasy of love, loss, toxic relationships and natural disasters. The animated adventure journeys to the home of Tahir who loses his storm wrecked home, but yet learns to triumph over tragedy as he navigates his way through challenges along his path. He learns to conquer his fear, remorse and guilt instead of running from his problems. It's going to take the overcoming of many obstacles along his way to restore his family and attain the love he longs for, the beautiful Zarah. The love triangle Tahir becomes entangled in proves to be another difficulty he must deal with and overcome.

At once hilarious and crazed, lyrical and absurd, hopeful and fantastical, Ridiculous and Ill-Advised drops us into the world of DIY 1990s, where drugged-out skateboarders, radicalized demolition derby gods and wild fairie artists grapple with the universal mysteries of love and economy, the possibility of success at making a living on their own terms.
Taking acid, writing garbage screenplays, skating pools, and playing in experimental noise bands. That was me before I met The Family. Then I was accidentally kidnapped from the parking lot of a rock concert after having sex in an ancient school bus with a strange beast. I'd been kidnapped, but also - I'd escaped. With no home base and no fixed point in space, we drifted from town to town and state to state, a rogue gang of 'curb painters' on a madcap ride down the backroads, to that world hiding out behind the strip malls where dumpsters are still full of magic and me, a young monster desperately trying to become just one thing: a filmmaker...

“I don’t read Doonesbury. He glorifies drugs.” —Former White House Press Secretary Marlin Fitzwater   Welcome to the age of pivots. Two centuries after the Founding Fathers signed off on happiness, Zonker Harris and nephew Zipper pull up stakes and head west in hot pursuit. The dream? Setting up a major grow facility outside Boulder, Colorado, and becoming bajillionaire producers of “artisanal” marijuana. For Zonk, it’s the crowning reset of a career that’s ranged from babysitting to waiting tables. For Walden-grad Zip, it’s a way to confront $600,000 in student loans.   Elsewhere in Free Agent America, newlyweds Alex and Toggle are struggling. Twins Eli and Danny show up during their mother’s MIT graduation, but a bad economy dries up lab grants, compelling the newly minted PhD to seek employment as a barista. Meanwhile, eternally blocked writer Jeff Redfern struggles to keep the Red Rascal legend-in-his-own-mind franchise alive, while aging music icon Jimmy T. endures by adapting to his industry’s new normal: “I can make music on my schedule and release it directly to the fans.”   He’s living in his car.     G.B. Trudeau’s Doonesbury is now in its fifth decade, and has chronicled American life through eight presidents, four generational cohorts, and innumerable paradigm shifts. His political sitcom Alpha House, starring John Goodman, is available on DVD and by streaming from Amazon Prime.   For the record, Trudeau always inhaled back in the day. As President Obama once explained, “That was the point.”

From the vast frozen wilderness of Alaska, Chad Carpenter brings Tundra. The National Cartoonists Society named Tundra as the Best Newspaper Panel Cartoon of the Year in 2007. These are award-winning cartoons from a naturally wonderful place.A tour guide might overlook some of the more quirky aspects of Alaska, but Carpenter sees it in a completely different light (even if that light only shows itself part of the year). Carpenter gives nature's residents, the furry and the not-so-furry, full attention. He also gives them voices that can bring a tear of laughter to the eye. Tundra is full of talking snowmen, inept hunters, obsessed fishermen, and inviting wildlife looking for their next meal. It's also packed with an abundance of hilarity.Tundra: Nature's Favorite Comic Strip features a "best of" collection with 560 cartoons from over 16 years of syndication.
