Synopsis

“Captivating” short stories set in vibrant, multicultural Miami (Julia Alvarez, author of How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents).   This collection of short fiction, a winner of the Bakeless Prize, captures the international hub city of Miami, Florida, in all its roiling guises—from the opulence of South Beach to the ferocity of Little Havana.   Introducing us to a wide range of unforgettable characters—an unscrupulous newscaster, a Lincoln Road bar manager, a beautiful but cruel teenage heartbreaker, and the title character, a suicidal Latin pop star—in situations that teem with humor and brutality, absurdity and poignancy, this remarkable debut offers a vivid portrait of a city defined by a blur of cultures.   “Engaging, funny, highly enjoyable . . . These stories draw you in.” —Francine Prose, author of Reading Like a Writer

From the internationally acclaimed, best-selling author of Brother, I'm Dying, a collection of vividly imagined stories about community, family, and love.Rich with hard-won wisdom and humanity, set in locales from Miami and Port-au-Prince to a small unnamed country in the Caribbean and beyond, Everything Inside is at once wide in scope and intimate, as it explores the forces that pull us together, or drive us apart, sometimes in the same searing instant. In these eight powerful, emotionally absorbing stories, a romance unexpectedly sparks between two wounded friends; a marriage ends for what seem like noble reasons, but with irreparable consequences; a young woman holds on to an impossible dream even as she fights for her survival; two lovers reunite after unimaginable tragedy, both for their country and in their lives; a baby's christening brings three generations of a family to a precarious dance between old and new; a man falls to his death in slow motion, reliving the defining moments of the life he is about to lose. This is the indelible work of a keen observer of the human heart — a master at her best.

Ken Barnard is a computer software engineer in his early thirties with very little going for him apart from the daily grind of a nine-to-five job during the week, going to the pub on Friday night and watching the match on Saturday. His lifelong passion, however, is spanking girl's bottoms. In the past, he had thought that girls his age or younger have the ideal bottoms to spank but that changed when his middle-aged neighbour locked herself out of her flat on purpose. After discovering the pleasure of spanking an older bottom, Ken finds that there are other middle-aged ladies who want to be spanked in every position imaginable.

Another fun spanking series Sweet older ladies can benefit from spankings just as much as naughty little girls. I’m really enjoying this author's genre-busting sexy spanking stories.

Enjoyable With so many stories about thin young ladies and men being spanked this perspective was very enjoyable. Some nice erotic moments but spanking was the main theme. Well done and a very nice read

Helen de Guerry Simpson was born in Sydney, Australia on the 1st December 1897. As a 17 year old she was sent to France and then on to Oxford, England to complete her education. Whilst there she founded the Oxford Women's Dramatic Society. She was sent down in 1921 apparently for breaking regulations prohibiting men and women students from acting together.

Her early work of poems, plays, a novel and a collection of short stories found little commercial success. It was only with ‘Boomerang’ in 1932 that her success was established. Helen continued to write across the genres and by now had become intensely interested in politics. She was selected to run by the Liberals for the Isle of Wight parliamentary seat in the expected General Election of 39 or 40.

Sadly this coincided with the rapid onset of cancer and her health very quickly deteriorated.

Helen Simpson died in Worcestershire, England on the 14th October 1940. She was 42.

In ‘Young Magic’ a young girl has definite supernatural abilities which she attempts to control. Years later when she returns home and begins a relationship those abilities begin to reappear in a more sinister form.
