A Fever, a Flight, and a Fight for the World is a compelling African adventure that will enthrall young listeners aged eight to fourteen who love thrilling stories and exploring faraway places. In this exciting fourth and final audiobook of the Rwendigo Tales series, listeners will be inspired by ordinary people who make the extraordinary choice to stand against great evil. Written by J. A. Myhre, a doctor living and working in East Africa, this adventure delivers powerful themes of justice, overcoming evil, and the courage to make a difference. In A Fever, a Flight, and a Fight for the World, a doctor volunteering in a village plagued by a mysterious virus wakes up on a deserted island—injured, sick, and near death—with no memory of how he got there. As Dr. Mujuni slowly regains his memory, he pieces together the horrific reality of what happened to the community and learns just how far the government-backed officials will go to silence all knowledge of the epidemic. With the help of a young girl named Nyakato, the only other survivor, he must find a way back to the mainland. But what they uncover on their journey is even more dangerous than they could have imagined. Through a series of perils and hazards, Mujuni and Nyakato must fight for more than their own survival, discovering the true cost of standing against corruption and greed. This powerful adventure offers hope in the midst of great loss, triumph and courage in the face of death and injustice, and love in the midst of darkness.

His first published short story, Doctor Goldman, can be found in the December 1900 issue of The Black Cat which launched in 1895. The Black Cat sold for five cents and encouraged amateur writers to submit stories. As the story goes the Jack London novel The Call of the Wild might never have been written if not for The Black Cat. London wasn’t having success as a writer and was about to give up but then he sold a story, A Thousand Deaths, to The Black Cat in 1899 and The Call of the Wild was published four years later! Never give up, Never Surrender!!

Before Vera Rubin discovered most of the universe, she was a girl who loved the night sky. She watched the Big Dipper circle the North Star. And when her eyelids grew heavy, she dreamed not about what she had seen, but about what she had not seen. She dreamed about the mysteries between the stars.

As Vera grew older, she tried to uncover those mysteries. At her first conference, the male astronomers said her ideas were “outlandish.” They said they were “ridiculous.” Vera didn’t like their harsh words, pushing her away. So she started studying faraway galaxies no one else was interested in. The youngest
wheeled like pinwheels. The oldest spun with their arms closed tight. And every single one showed that between the stars, there is stuff we cannot see. Scientists before Vera had suspected this “dark matter” made up most of the universe. But no one had been able to show it was there. No one, until Vera.

The Stuff Between the Stars tells Vera’s incredible story, celebrates her brilliance, and shows how a girl’s never-ending love for the night sky changed the way we see our universe today.
