The Adventure of the Copper Beeches, one of the 56 short Sherlock Holmes stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is the last of the twelve collected in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. It was first published in Strand Magazine in June 1892.Violet Hunter visits Holmes, asking whether she should accept a job as governess; a job with very strange conditions. She is enticed by the phenomenal salary which, as originally offered, is £100 a year, later increased to £120 when Miss Hunter baulks at having to cut her long hair short (her previous position paid £48 a year). This is only one of many peculiar provisos to which she must agree. The employer, Jephro Rucastle, seems pleasant enough, yet Miss Hunter obviously has her suspicions. She announces to Holmes, after the raised salary offer, that she will take the job, and Holmes suggests that if he is needed, a telegram will bring him to Hampshire, where Mr Rucastle's country estate, the Copper Beeches, is situated. After a fortnight, Holmes receives such a message, beseeching him to come and see her in Winchester. Miss Hunter tells them one of the most singular stories that they have ever heard. Mr. Rucastle would sometimes have Miss Hunter wear a particular electric blue dress and sit in the front room reading, with her back to the front window. She began to suspect that she was not supposed to see something outside the window, and a small mirror shard hidden in her handkerchief showed her that she was right: there was a man standing there on the road looking towards the house.Famous works of the author Arthur Conan Doyle's: "A Study in Scarlet", "Silver Blaze", "The Hound of the Baskervilles", "The Yellow Face", "A Scandal in Bohemia", "The Red-Headed League", A Case of Identity", "The Boscombe Valley Mystery", "The Five Orange Pips", "The Man with the Twisted Lip", "The Blue Carbuncle", "The Speckled Band", "The Engineer's Thumb", "The Noble Bachelor", "The Beryl Coronet", "The Copper Beeches" and many more.

Two hearts. One dangerous deception. A love worth fighting for.
Charlotte Edgewood is no ordinary heiress. With a mind for business and a spirit too independent for London society, she's resigned herself to spinsterhood—until her younger sister is targeted by the manipulative Lord Hargrove. Desperate to protect Amelia from a loveless marriage to a dangerous man, Charlotte will risk anything, even her reputation.
William Sears came to London to establish his American shipping company, not to fall in love. When he catches Charlotte breaking into his warehouse, he's intrigued by her intelligence and courage. With evidence suggesting Lord Hargrove is using their businesses for smuggling operations, William proposes an audacious solution: a false courtship that will give them both access to the information they need.
As they navigate elaborate balls and clandestine investigations, their pretend romance awakens feelings neither expected. But when their scheme unravels at the docks, William must make an impossible choice between protecting Charlotte's reputation and preserving his own. With Charlotte kidnapped and bound for Gretna Green against her will, William races against time to rescue the woman who has captured his heart.
Set in the glittering ballrooms and dangerous docks of Regency London, An Heiress Worth Rescuing combines the intrigue of smuggling operations with the passion of unexpected love. This thrilling fifth installment in the American Heiress Series can be enjoyed as a standalone romance.

It’s 2017 and Leyla, a Turkish twentysomething living in Berlin, is scrubbing toilets at an Alice in Wonderland–themed hostel after failing her thesis, losing her student visa, and suing her German university in a Kafkaesque attempt to reverse her fate.

Increasingly distant from what used to be at arm’s reach—writerly ambitions, tight-knit friendships, a place to call home—Leyla attempts to find solace in the techno beats of Berlin’s nightlife, with little success. Right as the clock winds down
on the hold on her visa, Leyla meets a politically conservative Swedish tourist and—against her leftist convictions and better judgment—begins to fall in love, or something like it. Will she accept an IKEA life with the Volvo salesman and
relinquish her creative dreams, or return to Turkey to her mother and sister, codependent and enmeshed, her father’s ghost still haunting their lives?

In the pages of her diary, while she waits for the German court’s verdict on her future, Leyla begins to parse her unresolved past and untenable present. With scorching wit and startling brevity, Leyla gives voice to the working-class
immigrant struggle to find safety, self-expression, and happiness. The Applicant is an extraordinary dissection of a liminal life between borders and identities, an indelible and darkly funny debut.
