Synopsis

First published in 1949, George Orwell's classic book about life under an authoritarian regime continues to capture and horrify new audiences to this day.  
In a society that demands total conformity, Winston Smith spends his days enforcing the totalitarian leadership's increasingly stiffling dictates while he dreams helplessly of freedom. Even when he finds love with a woman who shares his forbidden doubts, there is no avoiding Big Brother's eye forever. Orwell presents a bleak picture of what the future looks like when we surrender our freedom, and reminds readers that life without any choices is not living at all.
