Her name was Rose. You watched her die. And her death has created a vacancy.
Rose Grahame had everything Emily D’Arcy dreams of. A handsome husband, a stunning home and a baby boy with twinkling blue eyes and a smile that would brighten the darkest of days.
It’s a stark contrast to Emily’s life – her dead-end job, her borderline addiction to drink and pills, her failed engagement and her cluttered flat. But the women’s lives are about to collide – and nothing will ever be the same again.
Strangers in a lift in a shopping centre, Emily gestures to Rose to go ahead of her when they reach the bottom floor. But tragedy strikes when a car ploughs into the young mum – killing her instantly – before driving off at speed.
But was this a tragic accident? Or was it more than that? And just how involved is Emily truly going to become?
With twists that will keep you guessing until the very end, Her Name Was Rose makes you question who you can really trust and if any of us are truly honest about ourselves in the social media obsessed world.
In this riveting piece of psychological fiction, Allan weaves a tale of suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The mystery unfolds as Emily finds herself entangled in a web of crime, questioning her own involvement in the tragic accident.

If it is possible to conquer space, then perhaps it is also possible to conquer time. At least that was the theory American scientists were exploring in an effort to explain the new sources of knowledge the Russians possessed. Perhaps Russian scientists had discovered how to transport themselves back in time in order to learn long-forgotten secrets of the past. That was why young Ross Murdock, above average in intelligence but a belligerently independent nonconformist, found himself on a "hush-hush" government project at a secret base in the Arctic. The very qualities that made him a menace in civilized society were valuable traits in a man who must successfully act the part of a merchant trader of the Beaker people during the Bronze Age.For once they were transferred by time machine to the remote Baltic region where the Russian post was located, Ross and his partner Ashe were swept into a fantastic action-filled adventure involving Russians, superstitious prehistoric men, and the aliens of a lost galactic civilization that demanded every ounce of courage the Americans possessed. "The God of the Gongs" by G.K. Chesterton is a Father Brown story: It was one of those chilly and empty afternoons in early winter, when the daylight is silver rather than gold and pewter rather than silver. If it was dreary in a hundred bleak offices and yawning drawing-rooms, it was drearier still along the edges of the flat Essex coast, where the monotony was the more inhuman for being broken at very long intervals by a lamppost that looked less civilized than a tree, or a tree that looked more ugly than a lamppost.
