Beschreibung

The Intruder is a story of the dandy Tullio Hermil, unfaithful to his patient and loving wife, Giuliana. Tullio is a Nietzschean superman. He is handsome, intelligent, and powerful. Also, he believes himself to be superior to other men and beyond the reach of their judgment. Therefore, he ignores the feelings of others, not to mention his own wife. Yet, at some point, growing weary of his debauchery, Tullio decides to attempt a reconciliation with his wife. Giuliana is patient and loving and forgives his husband's sins. In a single weak moment, Juliana has succumbed to another man's advances and has gotten pregnant. As Tullio learns about that, he gets furious. When the baby (the Intruder) is born, Tullio starts thinking of a horrible crime. Yet, he must find the courage to commit it.

From bloodthirsty walls to interdimensional drugs to tyrannical authority to even a time-travel murder mystery, Trepid Trials is a collection featuring five stories all with an underlying theme of horrific trepidation.
The Walls: Four co-workers end up trapping themselves in a room where if they touch the walls, they are horrifically pulled in.
Bootstrap: Two secret time-travelers are sent back under orders by the U.S. Government to preserve an existing timeline where, in a deadly experiment, five of six soldiers are murdered in a particular sequence. However, while everyone is aware of this mission and even some out to change this timeline, those involved must figure out which two are what they claim they’re not.
Colby: A mother’s shackle… a child’s mind… and a fantastical imagining to discover self-love… all realized through Colby the talking dog, eight-year-old Howard’s imaginary friend.
Maggots of the Mind: Turner has a lot going on in his mind: repetition, ruminations, and a scrambled reality. All until he is presented with an opportunity to manipulate the dimension we are all in tandem with… our conscience.
Psycho Confinement: Carl is up against the clock in a critical situation... to exist.

Would you dance for a statue? What if he woke and claimed you?

I've got big dreams of a career on the stage. Unfortunately dreams don't pay the bills. Working as an exotic dancer for a mysterious monster client sure beats being groped by some of the sleazy humans I've danced for.

Performing alone on a rooftop for a statue sounds strange, sure. Then the statue comes alive and turns into a huge, sweet protective gargoyle. My dance frees William from his rocky prison, but he tells me if I don’t stop, he'll have no choice but to claim me forever. Beneath the rough, stony exterior, my powerful gargoyle mate has a tender heart. But he's holding back.

How can I convince him he's worthy? Will he still love me when he realizes how much trouble I am?

    Contains mature themes.

Mark is uprooted from his home and high school in the Twin Cities and forced to move with his family into a Victorian in Nowhere-ville. Busy with the relocation and fitting in, Mark’s parents don’t see what’s unfolding around them—the way rooms and left behind objects seem alive with a haunted past.
That past is the mid-1800s where Emma dwells. Tormented by the loss of her mother and having to live with her overbearing father who hopes to see the eradication of all indigenous people, she nurses soldiers back to health. Her torment escalates as she develops a passion for the Native American hired hand who sleeps just beyond her bedroom door. Together, they must unite to battle the supernatural force threatening to consume—and curse—all who dare to tread on the grounds. Will their forbidden love survive?
Back in the 1980s, Mark keeps his ghostly encounters to himself, all the while sinking deeper into the house's dark, alluring, and ultimately terrifying history. As romantic entanglements with the ghostly Emma intensify, the paranormal activity heightens. Past and present come together. Everything is connected—from the bricks in the walls to the hearts beating in their chests, all the secrets of Fountain Dead are finally unearthed.
