Sinopsis

The year is 1932 in the south side of Chicago. By day, small-time thugs lurk through the city streets hoping to make a big score. By night, criminals are on the hunt for unsuspected victims. It's a never-ending war.

After the city is relieved of Big Boy Caprice, another crime boss named Ominous resurfaces from out of hiding with his men. Ominous discovers that a local night club in town holds the darkest secrets in the city to help get him on top.

When multiple men are gunned down in a warehouse, Dick Tracy and his ambitious partner Joe Buzzer are on the case. They follow clues and pick up leads throughout the city. Ominous relies on his hatchet men Clover, Torpedo, Jersey, Pinstripe, and Spats, to keep them occupied. Tracy and Buzzer will have to work well after hours to have any chance at catching their man.

Howie screeches to a stop but she dies before he is able to get help.

Who was this woman and where did she come from? When Jack Wilder and Howie are hired by a non-profit organization, Washington Women Against Trafficking, they are soon embroiled in the most dangerous case of their career: what appears to be an illegal cannabis operation on Indian land, financed by Hong Kong money, that in fact is hiding something much more sinister.

To complicate matters, Howie is making preparations for the visit of his seventeen year-old daughter, Georgina, whose existence he only recently discovered. Georgie grew up in Scotland and it's a good thing she's an adventurous girl because she's about to get a real taste of the Wild West.

Walking Rain is a tale of corruption, international crime, and the challenges of parenthood as Howie finds himself an unexpected father to a teenage girl.

The parents aren’t worried. Their son does this, they say. With a storm bearing down on the village, though, Jayne isn’t content to dismiss this as a case of a curious kid off exploring the woods. Organizing a search-and-rescue mission gives her plenty to deal with but then the word "kidnapped" is mentioned and brings her sister’s long-buried nightmare into the light, forcing Jayne to divide her attention at the worst possible time.

Certainly not when the members of the Penrith Bingo Club are trying to track you down. But even stalwart sleuth, Amita Khatri, and her son in law, Jason, are foxed this time when a local woman tells them her husband, a mild-mannered academic has gone missing.
And he’s not the only person to disappear. Soon Amita, Jason, and irascible retired copper, Frank, are searching for more people – and some missing money to boot.
From the veg patches of Penrith to the shores of Ullswater, as Jason and Amita comb the Cumbrian countryside for clues, they soon realise they’ve stumbled a case where planting the evidence takes on a whole new meaning. And unless they can unearth some answers soon, they might be the next people to disappear…
In The Garden Club Murders, Jonathan Whitelaw delivers a top-notch detective story. This latest mystery novel is a blend of domestic humour and cosy thrillers, making it one of the best stories to pre-order.
