The Hardy Boys Mystery Series revolves around Frank and Joe Hardy, sons of the detective Fenton Hardy, who act as amateur sleuths, solving cases that stumped their adult counterparts. In the Secret of the Old Mill the Hardys learn that their friend Chet Morton has been tricked when asked to make change for what turned out to be a counterfeit twenty dollar bill. That is becoming more common in their town of Bayport, and Frank and Joe begin to investigate this curious case. When the Hardys and some of their friends go nearby an old watermill's to have a picnic, an arrow is shot at them with an attached note to give up their investigation. There is something strange about the old mill and the Hardy brothers decide to find out what.

"The Secret Garden" is Frances Hodgson Burnett's most beloved and popular book, a children's classic that has been adapted dozens of times for the stage and screen.
When Mary Lennox - an ill-tempered and lonely orphan - is sent to live with her gloomy uncle in England, her prospects for a bright future are dim. Her only companions are her cousin Colin, who is wheelchair bound, and the local boy Dickon Sowerby and none of the children seem to have anything in common.
But when Mary discovers a hidden door leading to a concealed (though neglected) garden, everything changes. As the three children work on the garden and it begins to thrive, the children's friendships deepen, their happiness increases and even Colin's health begins to improve. But the mystery remains: Whose garden is it?
"The Secret Garden" is presented here in its original and unabridged format, just as it first appeared in print.

One WWII pilot's mission to lift the spirits of children living in war-torn Berlin in 1945 comes to life in this moving middle-grade historical account. After World War II the United States and Britain airlifted food and supplies into Russian-blockaded West Berlin. US Air Force Lieutenant Gail S. Halvorsen knew the children of the city were suffering. To bring a bit of hope, he began dropping chocolate and chewing gum by parachute.

What began as a one-time gesture of compassion turned into an official US Air Force operation. "Operation Little Vittles" grew, as more and more pilots volunteered to drop the parachutes, and donations of candy and cloth poured in from all over. This inspiring story of one man's contribution to the rebuilding of a country after war is a unique look at history.

Candy Bomber is an important and interesting addition to studies of World War II.

Eve loves living next to a forest because it means being close to her favorite baobab trees. Doing her best to imitate them, Eve practices patience. She feeds and shelters birds, just as her beloved trees do, stretching toward the sky as if her arms were branches. Eve longs to communicate with the leafy giants she admires, and while she can’t become a tree, she can contribute to the beauty of the forest—just like her dad and grandma before her—by nurturing her very own baobab seedling. A companion story to Ken Wilson-Max's Astro Girl, this thoughtful introduction to the concept of land stewardship and the joys of giving back celebrates reciprocity while honoring our connection to our own branching family trees.
