Beschreibung

A Little Princess is a children's novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. A Little Princess opens with seven-year-old Sara Crewe and her father, Captain Crewe, arriving at Miss Minchin's boarding school for girls in London. Captain Crewe is very wealthy and states that Sara is destined for a lavish, comfortable future. Despite being pampered all her life in India, Sara herself is very intelligent, polite, and creative. Headmistress Miss Minchin is secretly jealous and dislikes Sara for her cleverness, but openly praises and flatters her because of her father's wealth. Before departing for India, Captain Crewe purchases Sara an elegant wardrobe and a doll whom Sara adores and names "Emily." Sara's friendliness and love for pretending and storytelling makes her popular with most of the school's students.

"The Happy Prince" is one of Oscar Wilde’s most beloved and poignant fairy tales, blending rich symbolism with a heartfelt narrative about compassion, sacrifice, and love. Set high above a city, the story follows a gilded statue—the Happy Prince—who once lived in luxury but now sees the suffering of the poor from his lofty perch. With the help of a kind-hearted Swallow, the Prince gives away all he has to bring joy and relief to the needy below.
As the Swallow delays his migration to Egypt to carry out the Prince’s wishes, both characters learn the profound value of generosity and selflessness. Through poetic prose and moral depth, Wilde delivers a timeless reflection on true nobility—not of birth or wealth, but of spirit.
Perfect for listeners of all ages, this touching parable continues to resonate as a tale of emotional truth and quiet heroism.

This middle grade edition of the groundbreaking bestseller by Doug Tallamy will inspire kids to use their backyard to help save the planet.  In Nature's Best Hope (Young Readers' Edition), Tallamy empowers kids to use their own yards to help combat the negative effects of climate change. He does so by breaking down complex concepts into simple terms and real-world examples that kids can easily grasp. Black and white photographs help further clarify concepts. In addition to sharing the science, Tallamy encourages kids to take direct action. Some of these ideas include planting an oak tree at home. If that’s too large of a task, he suggests they can plant asters—a beautiful flower whose pollen bees use to feed their young.  By helping the next generation see that they have power and agency over our collective future, this empowering book will drive home the positive point that kids are truly nature’s best hope.
