Sick of chasing the perfect relationship, career, or bank balance? Tired of feeling like you're never "enough"? You're not alone. It's time to do something. Smart Girls Screw Up Too is the guide for a generation of women who muse about what might be possible in their careers, health, and relationships but don't know where to start or are too afraid to.

When a series of screw-ups found Bella Zanesco burnt out, depressed, and with a broken soul, she knew something had to change. Her first ports of call were the usual Band-Aids: Tinder, work, and shopping. But soon, she realized those weren't going to work. If she wanted to fix this thing, she was going to need to take extreme measures. And so she began the journey that would transform her from "Sad Girl" to "Smart Girl"; a journey that meant taking up all the things that she'd been told were good for her but she had always been too afraid, too "busy", or too lazy.

Smart Girls Screw Up Too brings together: the latest research into gut science, neuroscience, and epigenetics; ancient tribal wisdom; interviews with game changers; and insights from the author's two-year study of over 2000 women. Together with Bella, you'll embark on a series of simple daily challenges that will not only get you to the root causes of why you think, feel, and behave, but see you making changes that stick.

Everything that we've been told about women succeeding in the workplace-from leaning in to throwing out the idea of being "nice girls"-misses the true key that puts women ahead: influence. Leadership experts Kathryn Heath, Jill Flynn, Mary Davis Holt, and Diana Faison create an airtight case for the importance of the influence effect.

It's pure myth that women need to be more aggressive to succeed. Since the time when Sheryl Sandberg's Lean In was first published in 2013, one thing has become strikingly clear: leaning in simply isn't enough to turn the tide. To the contrary, studies show that imitating male behavior doesn't translate to professional advancement for women. The distinctive missing link is influence.

In every industry, from private equity investing to network television, women are underrepresented at the top and underpaid across the board and throughout their careers. The gap in the literature about what puts women ahead is influence-the capacity to have an impact on agendas and outcomes. Influence is more important to the women we work with than power itself.

The Influence Effect focuses on building influence that will enable women to gain traction in their careers and to achieve the advancement they deserve. The tools in this book are geared to help women rise above the politics of business and succeed on their own terms by achieving greater influence. Women have goals they want to achieve and ideas they can champion through change, and influence is the currency they need to make that happen.

The perfect storm is here, created by the coalescence of climate and human-created catastrophes. As leaders dedicated to serving the causes and people we treasure, confronted by this unrelenting tsunami, what are we to do? I state my answer to this also with full confidence:

We need to restore sanity by awakening the human spirit. We can achieve this only if we undertake the most challenging and meaningful work of our leader lives: Creating Islands of Sanity.

An Island of Sanity is a gift of possibility and refuge created by people's commitment to form healthy community to do meaningful work. It requires sane leaders with unshakable faith in people's innate generosity, creativity, and kindness. It sets itself apart as an island to protect itself from the life-destroying dynamics, policies, and behaviors that oppress and deny the human spirit. Technology has played a crucial role in shaping business operations throughout history. From the earliest tools used in trade to the sophisticated digital solutions of today, technological advancements have continually transformed how businesses operate, compete, and innovate. Understanding this evolution provides insight into how businesses can adapt to ongoing technological changes and leverage them for growth and efficiency.
In the earliest days of commerce, businesses relied on manual processes, basic tools, and rudimentary systems to conduct trade. The invention of writing and accounting methods, such as the use of clay tablets in Mesopotamia, marked the first major technological leap in business operations. These early records enabled merchants to track transactions and manage resources more effectively. Over time, the development of paper money, banking systems, and mechanical tools further revolutionized trade and commerce, laying the foundation for more complex economic structures.
The Industrial Revolution in the 18th and 19th centuries marked another significant turning point in business technology. The introduction of steam engines, mechanized production, and telecommunication systems drastically increased efficiency and productivity. Factories replaced traditional handcrafting methods, allowing mass production and global trade expansion. The telegraph and telephone revolutionized communication, enabling businesses to operate over long distances and conduct transactions more quickly than ever before.
