How do economists decide what questions to address and how to choose their theories? How do they tackle the problems of the economic system and give advice on public policy? With these broad questions, Nobel laureate R. H. Coase, widely recognized for his seminal work on transaction costs, reflects on some of the most fundamental concerns of economists over the past two centuries. In fifteen essays, Coase evaluates the contributions of a number of outstanding figures, including Adam Smith, Alfred Marshall, Arnold Plant, Duncan Black, and George Stigler, as well as economists at the London School of Economics in the 1930s.Ronald H. When Shuaib Ahmed migrated from India to America at the age of six, he never imagined that internalizing the sage words and actions of his maternal grandmother, the woman who’d raised him, would help him build a thriving legal empire on two opposite coasts of the United States. In Personal Business, he debunks the myth of work-life balance based on lessons from his personal experiences, instead encouraging a new, revolutionary ideology: humans’ personal and professional lives are intertwined far more profoundly than we give acknowledge, which means our successes or failures in one can affect our achievements in the other. Through his tried-and-true approach, the ASA Way, Shuaib shares how individuals can embrace this truth to thrive and lead successful, meaningful lives filled with purpose and fulfillment in both aspects.

Culture Is Everything A good leader builds and establishes a company culture people want to be a part of. A transformational leader elevates that, cultivating a culture in which everyone—throughout the organization—is empowered to use their talents to live and work at their best. As the chairman and CEO of Coca-Cola Consolidated, the largest Coca-Cola bottler in the United States, J. Frank Harrison III knows firsthand the importance of not only prioritizing culture but also living out and modeling the values that drive it. He believes every person in an organization matters and how they are led matters just as much. In The Transformation Factor: Leading Your Company for Good, for God, and for Growth, Harrison profiles his company and his own personal journey to show you the radical transformation and amazing ripple effects that come from a purpose-driven, people-focused culture and a leadership style that centers on serving others. With a company that employs over sixteen thousand people, Harrison understands that real culture transformation takes great effort, intention, and courage and also humility and generosity. His book is about teaching leaders how to engage in meaningful work with people, inspire a culture of genuine care, and mobilize everyone around a purpose that not only transcends the everyday work they do but also informs it. Harrison integrates faith with work and demonstrates a revolutionary approach to leadership, modeled after the heart of God. The Transformation Factor shows us what it takes to commit to and invest in people, helping them recognize their fullest potential, and how to transform any environment into a place of vitality, growth, and purpose. With clarity and honesty, Harrison speaks from his experience as a leader to offer us a new way to look at people, culture, business, and success.

Making Kin: Ecofeminist Essays from Singapore contemplates and re-centres Singapore women in the overlapping discourses of family, home, ecology and nation. For the first time, this collection of ecofeminist essays focuses on the crafts, minds, bodies and subjectivities of a diverse group of women making kin with the human and non-human world as they navigate their lives.

From ruminations on caregiving, to surreal interspecies encounters, to indigenous ways of knowing, these women writers chart a new path on the map of Singapore’s literary scene, writing urgently about gender, nature, climate change, reciprocity and other critical environmental issues.

In a climate-changed world where vital connections are lost, Making Kin is an essential collection that blurs boundaries between the personal and the political. It is a revolutionary approach towards intersectional environmentalism.
