What is Extermination Camp

Nazi Germany used six extermination camps, also called death camps, or killing centers, in Central Europe during World War II to systematically murder over 2.7 million people, mostly Jews, in the Holocaust. The victims of death camps were primarily murdered by gassing, either in permanent installations constructed for this specific purpose, or by means of gas vans. The six extermination camps were Che?mno, Belzec, Sobibor, Treblinka, Majdanek and Auschwitz-Birkenau. Extermination through labour was also used at the Auschwitz and Majdanek death camps. Millions were also murdered in concentration camps, in the Aktion T4, or directly on site.

England in the time of his boyhood was a cold and colourless country. They had seen to that, the Autumn Men.They who had been lifted high, the old men of his country and other countries, who in the autumn of their years, reflecting on the unfulfilled promise of their youth, and their failures as yet unredeemed, feeling as any old man adrift alone on a small boat, sails broken, oars lost, swept hopelessly onward towards the deafening roar of the approaching weir, might feel, decided that too few had sweetly and honourably been called. So call out the young men, wide-eyed and brave of heart, to don uniform, bid sweethearts farewell and forfeit their future. And murder in the name of God.Until they too are harvested 'neath the Autumn Men's sickle. And the lark song is stilled as passing bells are heard anew.------------No longer could the innocent look to the heavens for salvation, only look on in horror as the devil poured the contents of hell over them. And so it was and so it remained until Satan, who had found refuge in the hearts of too many, was cast out and the women had cried.."enough!!"----------And on countless memorials in towns and villages across the cold and colourless country, new names were added to the old and memorials once again were baptised with tears of the innocent for the innocent. And in the great city as the weak winter sunshine filters through the mists of an early November morning, the Autumn Men in their black coats and polished shoes still stand, shameless, in solemn line to bow their heads and lay poppy-lit wreaths, mankind's apology to its youth.----------This then was the wasteland of his boyhood. One from which he would spend the rest of his life trying to escape.

My Secret Life is the longest erotic autobiography ever written. Penned anonymously during the 1800s by a wealthy English gentleman called Walter, it offers an eye and thigh opening account of life behind closed doors in the Victorian era. Banned from publication for its extreme and explicit content for nearly a century, My Secret Life has now come to life in the 21st century as an immersive audio book, narrated and scored by film composer Dominic Crawford Collins.

I am 27 and have never killed a man
but I know the face of death as if heirloom
my country memorizes murder as lullaby
    from "For Fahd"

Textured with the sights and sounds of growing up in East New York in the nineties, to school on the South Side of Chicago, all the way to the olive groves of Palestine, My Mother Is a Freedom Fighter is Aja Monet's ode to mothers, daughters, and sisters—the tiny gods who fight to change the world. Complemented by striking cover art from Carrie Mae Weems, these stunning poems tackle racism, sexism, genocide, displacement, heartbreak, and grief, but also love, motherhood, spirituality, and Black joy.

    Praise for Aja Monet:

"[Monet] is the true definition of an artist." —Harry Belafonte

"In Paris, she walked out onto the stage, opened her mouth and spoke. At the first utterance I heard that rare something that said this is special and knew immediately that Aja Monet was one of the Ones who will mark the sound of the ages. She brings depth of voice to the voiceless, and through her we sing a powerful song." —Carrie Mae Weems

Of Cuban-Jamaican descent, Aja Monet is an internationally established poet, performer, singer, songwriter, educator, and human rights advocate. Monet is also the youngest person to win the legendary Nuyorican Poet’s Café Grand Slam title.

This audio edition includes FLORIDA WATER: POEMS

Florida Water is a collection of poems that, like the cleansing waters of spiritual baths, rinse, reflect, and reveal the raw truths that lie within. In this vulnerable meditation, aja monet reflects on her migration to South Florida in search of love, connection, and belonging, unearthing the delicate balance between the poet, lover, and community organizer. These poems lay bare the tender dance of relationships, entwining the personal with the political, as they confront the state's fractured history of racial prejudice, marooned peoples, and the unruly forces of nature. In Florida Water, each poem is an artifact and offering from her time spent wading through the rising tides of climate change, heartbreak, and systemic violence. With each line, monet immerses us deeper into the water, where the currents of memory, struggle, and survival pull us toward both despair and hope.

She sets you in a front-row seat as she shares her life story and experiences, which show the strength, determination and courage of how she no longer wanted to continue with this way of life, and how she would do whatever it took to protect her children from being exposed to a life of addiction that is so normalized and influenced within society. Shannan teaches about addiction and the consequences of speaking her truth. She fights past fear, loneliness and judgement to end the inner pain that has haunted her for years, and finds inner peace. Along her path she realizes how life is a spiritual journey and there is a lesson to be learned with every experience, personal encounter and relationship. Most importantly, the lesson is how you have a relationship with yourself, that you have the power to change everything, and it all comes from within.
