ABOUT THE ORIGINAL BOOK
"Magic Bites" by Ilona Andrews introduces Kate Daniels, a mercenary in a world where magic and technology clash. The story begins when a magic surge leaves Kate's home defenseless. She is drawn into a case after the death of a knight-diviner, Greg Feldman, which sets her on a path to uncover the truth about his murder. Kate works with the Order of Merciful Aid and crosses paths with the local shapechangers and the People, a group focused on necromancy.

As Kate investigates, she uncovers a series of suspicious events, including a hidden brand on a dead vampire and the disappearance of several women. She meets with Curran, the Beast Lord, and forms a tenuous alliance. Kate is forced to confront the upir, a powerful being that feeds on dead flesh and seeks to mate with powerful women, while the mysteries of the missing women and the Order’s involvement grow deeper. Kate battles not only external threats but also her own inner demons as she tries to stay alive in a dangerous world.
