  Aspects Of Love is an anthology of poetic explorations on the theme of erotic love - though one of the "poets" represented here is better known, even than as a dramatist, as the philosopher, Plato. His Symposium heads off this set of erotic explorations. In The Symposium's philosophic play, he depicts a scene of men cosing together over dinner, each describing what he finds in his experience of love. I have followed this pattern in the choice of works for this anthology - in a similar manner, each of these works deals in a radically different way with the discovery of love. Whether philandering or married, heterosexual, lesbian or gay, under cover of friendship or as flagrant delight, from Plato through Donne, Whitman, Shakespeare or Sappho. we will not cease from exploration till we reach at last, as The Symposium does, a vision of the union of love as a discovery of the Divine. Surely there must be something here for everyone.

  Continuing her search for a neotropical mythos, in this brilliant second collection poet fahima ife articulates various scenes of subduction.   The novel Unterstadt tells the story of an urban family of German origin living in Osijek from the end of the nineteenth till the end of the twentieth century. It is narrated through the portrayal of the destinies of four generations of women – a great grandmother, a grandmother, mother, and a daughter – their shattered illusions, the education of their children, the historical events that brutally lash out at them.
   
  Ivana Šojat creates a world rich in detail and nuance, all her characters, both major and minor, are expressive and suggestive, abundant in virtues and flaws, complex and multidimensional, as life itself is. By depicting a clash of generations through the female characters of a family, the author creates a world in which, often due to bizarre strokes of fate or wrongly selected life-cards, both horrible and beautiful events occur. Yet the central theme, running through all the generations and all the characters, is that of hiding away from the past, fleeing from it, concealing it, which sooner or later leads to traumas and misunderstandings.
   
  Unterstadt is a book about a family and a town, written in the manner of the best and greatest modernist novels. Through the history of one family, it speaks of the twentieth century in a multiethnic town, of dictatorships, of wrongly selected sides, of fate which one can hardly defy.Unterstadt reveals the richness of Ivana Šojat’s narrative talent, and it is thus not surprising that she has emerged as one of the most interesting writers of contemporary Croatian prose.

  I currently reside in Texas where I have established my home and lead a solitary life. I am a 28-year survivor of HIV which I contracted through a blood transfusion while serving in the military in 1983, following an oral surgery procedure. In my retirement, I have dedicated my time to fishing, engaging in home improvement projects, and pursuing my long-standing passion for writing songs and poems which I have honed over a period of 35 years. 
  As an individual imbued with a strong sense of spirit, I believe that all of us possess an innate potential for compassion, albeit to varying degrees. Through my poetry, I seek to convey this inherent quality to those who may not be fully aware of it, but who need gentle reminders that they too are capable of empathy. I trust that my literary works will bring peace of mind and awareness to individuals navigating the stresses of our fast-paced, ephemeral existence, and provide solace by imbuing hope for a better tomorrow, informed by my personal experiences. Ultimately, my objective is to leave behind a brief legacy that inspires others to connect with their humanity and the compassion that resides within them.
