Frederick Elliot is a student at early 20th century Cambridge, a university that seems like paradise to him, amongst bright if cynical companions, when he receives a visit from two friends, an engaged young woman, Agnes Pembroke, and her older brother, Herbert. The Pembrokes are Rickie’s only friends from home. An orphan who grew up living with cousins, he was sent to a public (boarding) school where he was shunned and bullied because of his lame foot, an inherited weakness, and frail body. Agnes, as it happens, is engaged to Gerald, now in the army, who was one of the sturdy youths who bullied Rickie at school. Rickie is not brilliant at argument, but he is intensely responsive to poetry and art, and is accepted within a circle of philosophical and intellectual fellow-students led by a brilliant but especially cynical aspiring philosopher, Stuart Ansell, who refuses, when he is introduced to her, even to acknowledge that Agnes exists. The ALL NEW heart-pounding thriller 👀 from the BESTSELLING author of The Honeymoon, Gemma Rogers💥 - A must-read for fans of Freida McFadden and Lisa Jewell!
    Every family has their secrets…
No.6 Church Road was the Reilly family’s dream home. A recently renovated 3-storey house with just three occupants and more importantly a whole vacant top floor. So, there was plenty of space for one more. Right?
They had no idea I was sleeping in their empty loft conversion, cohabiting with them, eating their food, using their water, heating and Wi-Fi. Basically living for free, but it wasn’t for the thrill, I had discovered 'phrogging'.
It seemed like the perfect set-up, but when a local woman vanished, I suspected Jack Reilly was involved. You see I'd witnessed their illicit affair and Jack had a cast iron alibi, but I didn't believe it for one second.
The secrets in Church Road wouldn’t stay hidden for long, all I had to do was watch, wait and hope I wouldn’t be discovered.
A pacy, heart stopping, page turning thriller for the fans of Shari Lapena and Lisa Jewell.

The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett is a timeless classic that celebrates the healing power of nature, friendship, and love. First published in 1911, this beloved novel tells the story of transformation — not only of a hidden garden locked away behind ivy-covered walls, but of the lonely and troubled children who bring it back to life.

The story begins with Mary Lennox, a spoiled and neglected young girl born in India to wealthy British parents. After a sudden tragedy leaves her orphaned, Mary is sent to live with her reclusive uncle, Archibald Craven, at his vast and mysterious estate, Misselthwaite Manor, on the Yorkshire moors. Cold, lonely, and resentful, Mary finds herself in an unfamiliar land filled with long corridors, strange cries in the night, and secrets waiting to be uncovered.

One of the estate's most intriguing mysteries is a garden that has been locked and abandoned for years following the death of Mr. Craven's wife. With the help of a friendly robin and a local boy named Dickon—who has an extraordinary connection to animals and the natural world—Mary discovers the hidden key and begins restoring the neglected space. As the garden slowly blooms again, so too do the spirits of those who tend it.

Mary's transformation is profound. Once selfish and ill-tempered, she grows stronger, kinder, and more compassionate through her work in the fresh air and soil. Along the way, she discovers her cousin Colin, a sickly and isolated boy who believes himself destined to remain weak and dependent. Through friendship, encouragement, and the magic of the secret garden, Colin begins his own journey toward health and confidence.

Frances Hodgson Burnett weaves themes of renewal, resilience, and the restorative power of nature throughout this enchanting tale. The novel emphasizes how connection—to the earth, to others, and to oneself—can inspire growth and healing. With vivid descriptions of the Yorkshire landscape and heartfelt portrayals of childhood curiosity and wonder, The Secret Garden continues to captivate readers of all ages.

More than a simple children's story, The Secret Garden is a celebration of hope, transformation, and the belief that even the most hidden and neglected places—whether gardens or hearts—can bloom again when nurtured with care and love.

In the beginning, the Goddess danced the world into existence. Peace reigned for generations through matriarchal rule within the Minca, Dute, and Carroo tribes. But one man's lust for power destroyed this balance. Vestor assassinated his sister, Mother of the Minca tribe, and his army ravaged the Dute and Carroo tribes, thrusting a once idyllic world into war, famine, and despair.
Yet, today there is hope. Vestor's niece, Cora, has a vision: if she can convince an emissary from each tribe to rendezvous at the Heart Stone, she can overthrow her evil uncle, take her rightful place as Mother Minca, and restore harmony.
But the Dutes have disappeared deep into their mountains. There are rumors the Carroo are extinct. And, Cora must move swiftly -- lest Vestor learn that she's pregnant with the Minca heir.
