“Two months ago, when I passed my fifteenth birthday, I let my skirts down to my ankles, the old schoolhouse was razed and the schoolmistress changed. The long skirts were demanded by my legs which were attracting attention and already gave me the look of a young woman; the old school was falling to pieces; and as for the teacher, poor good woman, forty, ugly, ignorant, mild and always terrified of the inspectors, the Doctor Duterte, a cantonal delegate, needed her post to give to one of his political protégées. Poor old school, dilapidated, unhealthy but what fun . …”

Claudine is a mischievous fifteen-year-old, full of her sex and rampaging through the dusty corridors of a parochial school in provincial France. The prettiest, the smartest and wildest of her class, she sows discord among her less light-footed fellow-students and their slow-moving teachers.

Published at the turn-of-the century, Colette’s sharp-eyed account of adolescent life in Montigny, was a shocker when it first appeared. Mirroring her own upbringing, Claudine at School displays all the verve and searing honesty that separated Colette from lesser talents.

Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea is Jules Verne's most iconic science fiction masterpiece—a thrilling voyage into the depths of the oceans that combines adventure, imagination, and visionary science. The novel follows Professor Pierre Aronnax, his loyal servant Conseil, and the skilled harpooner Ned Land as they set out to investigate a mysterious sea creature rumored to be attacking ships across the world's oceans.

Their pursuit leads them aboard the Nautilus, an advanced submarine far beyond its time, commanded by the enigmatic and brilliant Captain Nemo. Taken on an extraordinary underwater journey, the travelers explore sunken civilizations, coral forests, and the wonders of marine life, while also confronting the dangers of the deep, including giant sea creatures and hostile human forces.

As the voyage unfolds, Captain Nemo emerges as a complex and haunted figure—both a scientific genius and a man driven by profound personal loss. Through him, Verne explores themes of freedom, isolation, revenge, and the ethical use of technology. Rich in scientific detail and poetic description, the novel brings the underwater world vividly to life.

A cornerstone of modern science fiction, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea remains a timeless classic, inspiring generations of readers with its sense of wonder, innovation, and the boundless mystery of the oceans.

After the first two episodes of the series ”The Printer”, here we are at the end, the last episode of the saga dedicated to the Renaissance Jesi. We left Andrea almost at the point of death, helped by his beloved, hidden in disguise. The plot has moved to Urbino, but certainly our two heroes, Andrea Franciolini and Lucia Baldeschi, will have to return to Jesi to fulfill their dream of love. The wedding will have to be a festive and opulent event, and will have to be celebrated by the Bishop of the City of Jesi, Monsignor Piersimone Ghislieri. But are we sure that obscure plots, of destiny and of men, will not be able to hinder for the umpteenth time the union between Andrea and Lucia? The two lovers have found each other again, and for nothing in the world would they want to leave each other again. Andrea finally wants to be a father to his little girl, Laura and, why not, to Lucia`s adopted daughter, Anna. The girls are fantastic, they are growing up healthy and lively in the country residence of the Counts Baldeschi, and Andrea is enjoying their closeness. But winds of war will once again lead the Captain of Arms of the Royal City of Jesi to the battlefields. And soon to leave the peace and quiet regained. The Lansquenets press the gates of northern Italy and the Duke of Oak, in a strange alliance with Giovanni De` Medici, better known as Giovanni Dalle Bande Nere, will do his best to prevent German soldiers from reaching Florence and even Rome. Avoiding the sacking of the Eternal City in 1527 will not be an easy task, neither for the Duke Della Rovere, nor for Giovanni dalle Bande Nere, nor for Captain Franciolino de` Franciolini. Let us once again follow the events of the characters of the sixteenth century through the discoveries of ancient documents and archaeological finds of the young couple of researchers of our time.
