Synopsis

Oslo Dali is a freelance videographer who never lands the interesting jobs. But when he gets a gig covering a lecture by a beloved spiritual leader, the unthinkable happens: a woman in the crowd shoots the guru dead mid-sentence. And then, inexplicably, the woman tries to shoot Dali himself. The killer is declared criminally insane and the case is closed. But when Dali reviews his footage from that night, he discovers there’s far more to this story than anyone realizes..Desperate for help, Oslo calls up an old acquaintance: Serafina Grant, a paranoid pill popper living on the fringes of society. The two misfits quickly find themselves chasing the scoop of a lifetime: The key to a forty-year-old unsolved murder, a world champion poker player with a nasty secret living in his barn, and a blind assassin who identifies her targets by smell. An assassin who–for reasons Oslo can’t begin to understand–is stubbornly intent on seeing him dead.

An Atlanta investigative reporter who speaks for those without a voice. A female-owned strip club famous for treating its performers as well as its customers. But when one popular dancer is ritualistically murdered, reporter Keke McCoy’s investigation won’t leave hers—or anyone’s—secrets safe, in the first of a thrilling mystery series by L. Divine …

When Keke starts looking into secretive stripper Monaka’s grisly death, she’s instantly caught between her past and her present. Through The Honey Pot club owner “Honey Mama’’ Thiboudeaux, Keke found refuge from the streets, earned much money from her stage persona “Brandy,’’ and got a chance at a new life all her own. Her bombshell exposé about the club launched her reporting career. But it caused a bitter, seemingly irrevocable split between her, the only family she’s ever known—and Drew, the one man Keke won't admit she's never gotten over …

At Honey Mama request, Keke goes undercover as Brandy to find the truth before political pressures shut the progressive club down for good. But Keke has to watch more than her back when she finds Monaka had an unshakable, dangerously elusive stalker, an illicit club sideline—and vicious conflicts with rival dancers.

Even more explosive, Keke’s persistence is putting her at odds with Drew, now a police detective working this case … and the secrets she herself can no longer hide.

Now with the clock fast ticking down, Keke must tantalize the killer with the one lure he—or she—can’t resist. But using fantasy as a trap could put more than her pursuit of justice on the line—it risks ending her career and life for good …

Mercedes Harrigan, novice landlord, is a pro at cleaning up messy apartments but cleaning up after an elderly tenant dies presents a different dilemma. It’s not the dead body lying on the kitchen floor that has Sadie freaked out—she grew up playing among the caskets at her grandmother’s mortuary—it’s thecoroner’s
suspicion that the wiring in Sadie's vintage apartments could be the culprit. Add a threatened lawsuit by the family of the deceased, along with bizarre clues that pop up but don’t add up, and Sadie’s morale dips lower than the meager balance in her bank account.

When none of the authorities will listen to Sadie’s suspicions about the supposedly accidental death, Sadie enlists the help of her BFF Rebbie Russell. As the duo digs into the tenant's life the sweet-old-lady facade crumbles and a nastier profile emerges, providing plenty of suspects. Threats against Sadie escalate as they come to the conclusion that her death was not due to old age and a three-pack-a-day habit but rather a cleverly planned murder. When a second murder is made to look like a random mugging, Sadie knows she’s on the right track. But can she expose the murderer before she winds up in one of her grandmother’s caskets?
