Synopsis

Creative Workspaces explores how thoughtful office design influences employee productivity and well-being, arguing that strategic workspace design is a critical business tool, not just an aesthetic choice. It delves into aspects like ergonomics, lighting, and acoustics, showcasing how they impact cognitive function and social interaction. Interestingly, a well-designed workspace can foster collaboration and inspire creativity, while a poorly designed one can decrease morale.

The book presents core design principles and examines flexible work models like activity-based working and co-working spaces, analyzing their benefits and drawbacks. It also explores the efficacy of open-plan offices, acknowledging that while they may increase collaboration, they also have downsides like noise and lack of privacy.

Case studies of leading companies illustrate how innovative workspace designs have achieved tangible business outcomes. This book uniquely emphasizes a data-driven approach to workspace design, moving beyond anecdotal evidence to advocate for evidence-based strategies. It progresses by first establishing design principles, then exploring flexible work models, and finally presenting real-world case studies to demonstrate the impact of thoughtful workspace design.

In pursuit of their goal of becoming the biggest bank in the world, between 2003 and 2010, HSBC allowed El Chapo and the Sinaloa cartel, one of the most notorious and murderous criminal organizations in the world, to turn its ill-gotten money into clean dollars. How did a bank which boasts transparency, come to facilitate Mexico’s richest drug baron? And how did a bank that had been named ‘one of the best-run organizations in the world’ become so entwined with one of the most barbaric groups of gangsters on the planet?Too Big to Jail is an extraordinary story, brilliantly told by writer, commentator and former editor of The Independent, Chris Blackhurst, that starts in Hong Kong and ranges across London, Washington, the Cayman Islands and Mexico. It brings together an extraordinary cast of politicians, bankers, drug dealers, FBI officers and whistle-blowers, and asks what price does greed have? Whose job is it to police global finance? And why did not a single person go to prison for facilitating the murderous expansion of a global drug empire?

Dr. Kimberly McGlonn's life is a story of two childhoods and two Americas. Born on the Northside of Milwaukee, a city Dr. Martin Luther King called "the Selma of the North," she was afforded all the comforts of middle-class life. However, when McGlonn was twelve, all that changed. What came next taught her about the consequences of poverty, the nuances of criminality, and the obstacles women in poverty navigate.
In Build It Boldly, she calls on the world's 524 million entrepreneurs to embrace a new kind of activism and legacy-building: one that puts people and the planet in the balance of the pursuit of profit and that promotes the kind of optimism necessary for climate resilience. A unique voice, Dr. McGlonn offers timely wisdom on what daring leadership requires and how we might use business design to create powerful impacts on behalf of the common good.

Why do some relationships work and others don’t?
All relationships – at home, at work, and in life – face a similar set of inevitable hurdles.
Success comes from learning how to get over the hurdles ahead of time and taking personal responsibility for turning up well in our relationships.
When we don’t, we end up stumbling at every hurdle, living in frustration or giving up on the relationship all together. We leave partners, we leave families, we leave organizations... and in our wake we leave a trail of mental, emotional and financial trauma.
This book will help you understand why you need to be intentional about building your Relational Intelligence and how you can, in very practical terms, change your behaviors from habits that damage relationships to habits that strengthen them.
    What are people saying?
‘With The 4 Habits, the Taylor-Cummings have put together a template to help anyone have better relationships – whether in the boardroom or the bedroom!... The ideas in this book aren’t just something to read, but to put into practice and reap the rewards.’
Rob Parsons OBE – Founder and Chairman, Care for the Family
‘In a world of broken relationships and at a time such as this, these powerful insights from Andrea and Jon Taylor-Cummings are cool water in a thirsty land.’
Dawid Konotey-Ahulu CBE – Co-Founder of Redington, Mallowstreet and 10,000 Black Interns
    Background
