The Shoddy Lands by C. S. Lewis - When a skeptical professor steps into the mind of a former student’s fiancée, he discovers a surreal landscape shaped by vanity, obsession, and alarming emptiness. The Shoddy Lands is a sharp and unsettling exploration of how our inner worlds reveal far more than we intend.
Clive Staples Lewis (1898–1963) was a British author, scholar, and Christian apologist whose work has had a lasting impact on literature, theology, and popular culture. Born in Belfast, Ireland, Lewis showed an early passion for storytelling and mythology. He studied at Oxford University and later became a fellow and tutor in English literature at Magdalen College. After serving in World War I, Lewis returned to academia and developed a keen interest in philosophy, literature, and faith.
Though raised in a Christian household, Lewis became an atheist in his youth, only to return to Christianity in his early thirties—a journey that profoundly shaped his writing. As a lay theologian, he wrote accessible and powerful works on Christian belief, including Mere Christianity, The Problem of Pain, and The Screwtape Letters. These texts helped articulate Christian faith for a modern audience, blending reason, imagination, and moral clarity.
Lewis is perhaps best known for The Chronicles of Narnia, a seven-book fantasy series that has captivated readers for generations. He also explored science fiction in his Space Trilogy, beginning with Out of the Silent Planet. As a member of the literary circle known as The Inklings—which included close friend J.R.R. Tolkien—Lewis valued imagination as a means of expressing deep truths.
    C. S. Lewis died in 1963, but his work continues to inspire readers of all ages across the world.

Under the enchanted canopy of Eldergrove, where ancient trees murmur secrets in the language of leaves and wild spirits dance on moonbeams, druid Thorne seals an eternal pact with Sylva, the forest's untamed spirit manifested as a ethereal nymph with bark-veined skin. Exiled from his order for embracing the wild's chaos, Thorne's covenant with Sylva unleashes a verdant renaissance—or a rampant overgrowth that could entomb civilizations. As they wander root-woven paths and glade-shrouded hollows, stalked by poacher shamans and corrupted treants, their pact's magic entwines druidic runes with sylvan whispers, revealing a primordial forest prophecy of balance. When a logging baron's enchanted axes threaten the canopy's heart, Thorne and Sylva must summon the wild's fury to defend their bond. In the depths of ancient woods, where every root binds fate and every moonbeam illuminates desire, their eternal love becomes the pact that nurtures the forest's undying soul.

Monster by William Morrison - Colonizing Mars was hell, because of one thing—large, hungry critters. They flew, crawled, snarled, howled, burrowed up under the floors, chewed at doors and windows. And then, to make things worse, came the Monster...
There was a faint scratching at the door, so faint that Alice Kidd, who had been listening fearfully for precisely that sound, was at first not certain that she heard it. But, as she came close to the doorway, it was no longer possible to doubt, and a chill went through her at the thought of the creature panting eagerly on the other side. Now she could hear it whine, and, despite her knowledge that the gesture was an idle one, she could not help once more feeling the bolt behind the door. Then she made sure that the shutters too were securely barred, although these were usually in less danger; most of the animals could not apply pressure very far above the ground.
Small was staring at her, not particularly frightened, but very much interested. Her face, she thought, must be pale through the radiation tan. Ordinarily, there was nothing timid or fragile about her, or she would never have accompanied her husband to Mars; but all the same, she felt weak and helpless before the danger that threatened. And she shuddered as her five-year-old son asked, "Can it get in, Mommy?"
"I hope not, darling. Come, let's go into the other room and bolt the connecting door. And then I'll call up Daddy."
"Does it want to eat us, Mommy?"
Alice shuddered again. "Don't talk about it," she said, and carried him quickly into the next room. When the door was bolted, she pressed the contact button, asked for Mr. Kidd, and almost at once was speaking to Anthony.
