Sinopse

In "Guerrilla Warfare," Ernesto Che Guevara presents a detailed, practical manual on the strategies and tactics essential for conducting insurgent warfare. Written in a straightforward and direct literary style, the book is structured to serve both as a theoretical framework and a practical guide for guerrilla fighters. Guevara draws from his own revolutionary experiences in Cuba, weaving in historical examples and military principles to outline the intricacies of mobilizing a grassroots movement against oppressive regimes, ultimately illuminating the broader context of revolutionary theory in the mid-20th century. The work is notable not only for its military insights but also for its underlying moral imperatives, making it a pivotal reference for both scholars and practitioners of revolutionary thought. Ernesto Che Guevara, an Argentine Marxist revolutionary, writer, and key figure in the Cuban Revolution, deeply understood the impact of guerrilla tactics against imperialism. His experiences as a combatant and strategist shaped his vision of a global revolutionary movement. Having observed the struggles of the oppressed firsthand, Guevara's writings reflect a profound commitment to social justice and a life dedicated to combatting inequality, making him a seminal figure in the history of revolutionary movements. "Guerrilla Warfare" is a must-read for anyone interested in military strategy, revolutionary theory, or the historical context of political activism. In Demand the Impossible, Robert L. Tsai traces lawyer Stephen Bright's remarkable career to explore the legal ideas that were central to his relentless pursuit of equal justice. For nearly forty years, Bright led the Southern Center for Human Rights, a nonprofit that provided legal aid to incarcerated people and worked to improve conditions within the justice system. He argued four capital cases before the US Supreme Court—and won each one, despite facing an increasingly hostile bench. With each victory, he brought to light how the law itself had become corrupted by the country's thirst for severe punishment, exposing prosecutorial misconduct, continuing racial inequality, inadequate safeguards for people with intellectual disabilities, and the shameful quality of legal representation for the poor.

Organized around these four major Supreme Court cases, each narrated in vivid and dramatic detail, Tsai's essential account explores the racism built into the criminal justice system and the incredible advancements one lawyer and his committed allies made for equal rights. An electrifying work of legal history, Demand the Impossible reveals how change can be won in even the most challenging times and how seemingly small victories can go on to have outsized effects.

Out-of-control debt. Populism. Political vitriol and corruption. Where did America go wrong? Or rather, when did America go wrong?

1913. The Seventeenth Amendment is ratified, allowing the people of America to vote directly for their senators in the US senate. The same year, the Federal Reserve Act is passed, establishing a central bank to oversee monetary policy. In The Illusory Bargain, Ralph H. Lehman demonstrates that these seemingly empowering and people-serving pieces of legislature were just that-an illusion. Tracing the vision of the Founding Fathers as outlined in The Federalist Papers, Lehman reveals how the safety features of the original constitutional framework have eroded since and given way to rampant abuse of power and arbitrary, tyrannical law.

Through fresh, historically informed insights and over twenty years of financial expertise, Lehman reexamines the nation's fundamental values and proposes what may be the only course of action left to restore our liberty.

Is this country finally leaving Trump behind? Critically acclaimed author, Brenda Peterson explores the End Times for Trump. She imagines a future beyond this divisive president—and a possible dialogue to restore our faith in ourselves and our shared country. Trump’s presidencies are a tribulation for many. Now, Trump faces his own tribulations. This unholy man launched a holy war, crashed the global economy, alienated allies, and finally his Religious Right faithful by posing as Christ. Drawing from her darkly comic memoir, I Want to Be Left Behind: Finding Rapture Here on Earth, nature writer and novelist, Peterson, tells inspiring stories of the spiritual side of politics. She asks for a deeper discussion of the “God on our side” warrior ethic. With tender humor, she engages with Rapture believers who eagerly anticipate Armageddon, and she holds out hope for healing from a chaotic and polarizing decade too long shadowed by Trump.

Underserved is a tangible blueprint for today's conservative who understands the need for a new and viable political plan of action—one that addresses the needs of the underserved communities that make up these United States of America. Utilizing the concept of the "Party of Lincoln" and the conservative principles set forth over centuries by the movement's most recognized thought leaders, Underserved examines President Lincoln's intentions for Reconstruction, President Grant's aims to implement that vision, and Frederick Douglass's influence on both men in the process. Underserved brings home the very real impact of a failed plan that has had negative implications on modern America, whether conservative, moderate, or liberal.

With this historical plan as the linchpin for creating a framework that services disenfranchised communities, authors Ja'Ron K. Smith and Chris Pilkerton challenge conservative policy makers to employ strategies that mirror those originally presented over 160 years ago, while making necessary concessions for its modern audience.

From education and workforce development to criminal justice reform and healthcare disparities, Underserved makes a bold statement about what is necessary to see a change in the current state of affairs and presents a realistic action plan to make it happen.

Ceasefire is a true story. It is about me and my familys journeys through wars and other conflcts over three generations, and the brutal consequences of such a journey, particularly for me.
During my PhD research in the 1980s, as an academic I travelled all over the world, and revealed the murderous realities of the covert Reagan-era, US foreign policy in numerous war zones, particulary in the Phillipines and Central America. The covert strategy became known as Low Intensity Conflict ( LIC).
But much later my political opponents in the media, branded me a 'terrorist' sympathiser and supporter of 'Islamic terrorism' in the southern Philippines. The result? My life was left in tatters - privately, professionally.and psychologially.
Over time, I tried to come to terms with my constant battle against the suicidal 'Black Dog' of depression. I decided to write a book about my reseach with the communist New People's Army and the Muslim guerrilas in the Philippines. It was way of combating the smear campaign that destrored my life.
Ultimately, I concluded like millions of other people, I am merely a part of a brutal 'firing order' phenomenon, a psychological condition of a global politcal culture that continually infects and shapes our following generations. I am neither alone nor my condition uninfluenced. I am just another link in a long chain of human events perpetrating both conflict among peoples and the resulting deadly Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) that affects such participants. With a greater understanding of my condition, I finally attemped to come to peace with the Black Dog, and called for a 'Ceasefire'!
But what ultimately happened?. It all played out in France. I survived but my brother and daughter didnt. I am still to find any peace. The Black Dog takes no prisoners!
