Synopsis

How did an innocent birthday wish bring three historical figures into the future, together?

Community theater costume and stage manager in one, Wren Dynamene, has it bad. Not only does the former leading actress have debilitating stage fright that keeps her off the stage and in the wardrobe, a permanent wallflower, but she’s secretly crushing on the star—and best friend, Marco.

Blowing out her birthday candles, she wishes for love and courage, never expecting three historical figures to time travel to the present with the mission to fix her love life.

When there's no choice but to spend the night at Marco's with her new friends, keeping her feelings in check will prove more difficult than managing the most detailed and demanding play. Especially when chaos ensues and backstage trouble arises. However, the show must go on, leaving Wren with the decision–step back into the limelight and risk her friendship for love, or continue to languish backstage, safe but miserable?

Exit, Stage Left is a heartwarming time travel romance novelette from historical time travel romance author, Erin Krueger. If you enjoy golden retriever heroes, sassy wallflower heroines, fascinating and humorous historical figures, forced proximity, and friends that won't give up, then you'll love this scrumptious production.

"The Decameron" is a collection of novellas by Italian author Giovanni Boccaccio, written between 1348 and 1353. It is a masterpiece of Italian literature and a significant work of early Renaissance literature. The frame narrative of "The Decameron" revolves around ten individuals who flee plague-ridden Florence and take refuge in a villa in the countryside. To pass the time, they tell one another stories—100 in total—over the course of ten days. These stories encompass a wide range of themes, from love and morality to wit and humor, and they offer a vivid portrayal of Italian society in the 14th century.

From Far Around They Saw Us Burn is the eagerly awaited first short story collection from Alice Jolly, one of the most exciting and accomplished voices in British fiction today.

The extraordinary range of work gathered here is united by a fascination with how everyday interactions can transform our lives in unpredictable ways. These are stories of lonely people, outcasts and misfits, and the ghosts that inhabit our intimate spaces. The result is a compelling, arresting and, at times, devastating collection - not least in the title story, which was inspired by the tragic true events of the 1943 Cavan orphanage fire.

With an exemplary eye for detail and an intimate understanding of the complexities of human nature, Jolly's collection builds up towards the ultimate question: what is revealed of us when we peel away the surfaces, and is it enough?

In The Crucifixion of the Outcast, W.B. Yeats weaves a haunting parable of injustice, piety, and the tragic fate of visionaries scorned by society. Set in a mythic version of early Christian Ireland, the story follows a devout, ragged poet who begs for sanctuary from a monastery — only to find rejection, ridicule, and ultimate martyrdom at the hands of those who claim to follow Christ.
This powerful tale explores the hypocrisy of religious institutions, the alienation of the artist, and the price of true spiritual conviction. Rich with allegory and poetic symbolism, Yeats paints a bleak but beautiful portrait of the eternal outcast — one whose death becomes his final and purest act of devotion.
Perfect for fans of literary allegory, Irish folklore, and philosophical fiction, The Crucifixion of the Outcast is both a social critique and a deeply moving spiritual meditation.

    His Wife's Deceased Sister -...

Frank Richard Stockton was born in Philadelphia on 5th April 1834.
His father, a Methodist minister, discouraged Stockton’s literary career from an early age. Feeling unable to go against those wishes it was for many years that Stockton’s income was maintained as a wood engraver.
His first work was published in 1867 and his first collection only appeared in 1870. Despite this late arrival Stockton’s innovative and often far-fetched stories, with a gentle ‘poking fun’ humour were very popular. Like his contemporary Mark Twain he avoided the scolding, hectoring and moral tones of many other authors and instead gently teased and cajoled his reader to open their eyes to the ills, the greed and the ambitions of the world around them. His sci-fi stories in particular were far-seeing and inventive including a tale of negative gravity and a bloodless Anglo-US war won by technological feats.
Perhaps his most enduring tale though is ‘The Lady, or the Tiger?’ from 1882. A condemned man is given a choice of being eaten alive or marrying his princess lover. But he has to choose which door each is behind.
Frank R Stockton died in Washington, DC, on 20th April 1902, of a cerebral haemorrhage. He is buried at The Woodlands in Philadelphia.
