Synopsis

Paul Bäumer is just 19 years old when he enlists in the German army during World War I. What starts as a journey full of optimism turns to horror as he encounters the grim reality of trench warfare.  Amid the mud, blood, and chaos of battle, Paul forges deep bonds with his fellow soldiers, but these friendships only heighten the sense of isolation he experiences among civilians. 
 
This 20th-century masterpiece immerses listeners in the violence of the trenches, the tenderness and tragedy of comradeship, and the lasting impact of war.
