Sinopsis

Global Foods explores how world history, geography, and cultural exchange have shaped global foods and culinary traditions. It examines the regional variation of ingredients, like the dramatic difference between Italian pasta and Japanese noodles, the historical development of cooking techniques, and the deep cultural significance of food. Beyond sustenance, food is a powerful expression of identity and a reflection of environmental adaptation. The book navigates historical contexts, showing how trade routes, such as the Silk Road, introduced new ingredients and how colonization impacted culinary traditions. It integrates historical, cultural, and scientific perspectives to provide a holistic understanding of international cuisine. Beginning with a framework for understanding the key elements that shape cuisine, subsequent chapters delve into specific regions, such as the Mediterranean, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, analyzing the impact of agriculture, the evolution of cooking technologies, and the role of food in religious and social rituals. The book concludes by exploring contemporary food trends, such as the rise of fusion cuisine and the impact of globalization, offering a unique perspective that moves beyond recipes to examine the underlying factors that have shaped the foods we eat. This approach fosters a deeper appreciation for the diversity of human experience and the interconnectedness of global communities, emphasizing the cultural diversity embedded within our culinary practices.

A fascinating portrait of the community of people—and one cat—who’ve traveled the trail end to end, by the founder of the Appalachian Trail Museum.   Countless hikers have walked stretches of the two-thousand-plus-mile Appalachian Trail, but only a small, deeply dedicated group has completed the trek all the way through from Georgia to Maine. This book explores the history of the trail through colorful profiles of those who are a part of this unique community and reveals the customs and culture that have evolved around them over the years.   From the sore muscles to the moments of solitude in nature, from the retired postmaster who parachuted onto the top of Springer Mountain to begin his journey to the woman who set out in tennis shoes because she couldn’t find women’s hiking boots in her size, Walking the Appalachian Trail explores questions of who these end-to-enders are, what drives them, what risks they face, and what rewards to body and soul they gain from this extraordinary walk.   Includes color photographs

This is a book that consists of 3 titles, which are these:
1 - As King Henry VIII's 2nd marriage partner, Anne Boleyn ruled as Queen of England from 1533 till 1536. Her marriage and execution by beheading for treason and other criminal offenses made her an essential player in the political and religious chaos that identified the start of the English Reformation. Anne was the daughter of Thomas Boleyn, first Earl of Wiltshire, and his marriage partner, Girl Elizabeth Howard. She got her education in Holland and France, mainly as a housemaid of honor to Queen Claude of France. Anne went to England in early 1522, meaning to wed her Irish cousin James Butler, 9th Earl of Ormond; nevertheless, the marriage failed, and she found work as a housemaid of honor to Henry VIII's partner, Catherine of Aragon.
2 - Mary I, typically called Mary Tudor and called "Bloody Mary" by her Protestant challengers, ruled as Queen of England and Ireland from July 1553 till November 17th, 1558. She is well recalled for her solid attempts to reverse the English Reformation, which started throughout her dad's reign, Henry VIII's reign.
Bloody Mary was cruel, cold, and from what we know, there was a cause for this. Let’s take a look at her life, her problems, and the way she handled them.
3 - From 768 to 800, Charlemagne, also referred to as Charles the Great, was King of the Franks, King of the Lombards, and Emperor of the Romans. Charlemagne combined many western and main Europe at the time of the Early Middle Ages. Since the fall of the Western Roman Empire 3 centuries before, he was the first acknowledged emperor to rule from western Europe. The Carolingian Empire is the name given to Charlemagne's broadening Frankish world. Antipope Paschal the Third later canonized him.

Enough is a powerful, riveting memoir that takes listeners behind the scenes of the White House during one of the most tumultuous periods in modern American history. From a young, ambitious staffer’s rise to the inner circles of power to their moral reckoning during the chaotic final days of the Trump administration, this audiobook provides an intimate and unflinching look at leadership, accountability, and the courage to stand up for what is right.

Through vivid storytelling and firsthand accounts, the author recounts their journey from an idealistic newcomer to a key witness of the events leading up to January 6, 2021. As the administration unraveled in the face of unprecedented challenges, the author faced their own crisis of conscience, grappling with loyalty, ethical dilemmas, and the heavy responsibility of speaking truth to power.

This book contains the following titles:
    - The 2024 Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is one of the most complex and enduring disputes in modern history. Rooted in competing nationalist aspirations, territorial claims, and historical grievances, the conflict has shaped the Middle East and drawn international attention for over a century. To understand the events of 2024, it is essential to examine the historical context that underpins this struggle.
    - The Syrian Civil War: The Syrian Civil War, which began in 2011, stands as one of the most devastating conflicts in modern history, reshaping not only Syria but the entire Middle East and the international political landscape. The war has drawn in numerous global powers, each with their own motivations, and has sparked a humanitarian crisis of unparalleled scale. This conflict is not merely a battle between the Assad regime and opposition groups but a complex web of local, regional, and international rivalries, ideologies, and geopolitical interests. As the fighting continues, the war has resulted in staggering human loss, displacement, and destruction, leaving a country in ruins and millions of people displaced across borders.
    - The Rise of ISIS: The rise of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) stands as one of the most significant and alarming phenomena of the 21st century. Emerging from the chaos of regional conflicts and geopolitical missteps, ISIS transformed from a little-known insurgent group into a global threat that captured the world’s attention. At its height, ISIS declared a self-styled caliphate, controlling vast territories across Iraq and Syria, and wielded its influence far beyond the Middle East. Through acts of brutality, strategic propaganda, and a sophisticated recruitment network, the group redefined the face of modern terrorism.
