One day after pumping dollars into the slot machine and staring at a screen, you get up and notice the table games section of the casino. Brightly lit from can lights shining downward and the crisp green felt of the line of games, making you think of the cash in your wallet or purse.
There is a row of blackjack tables. Some have a dealer standing with their hands clasped idly in front of them or pressed along the cushion running along the felt. They stare at the gamblers roaming the casino, eagerly awaiting the next person to place a chip and test their luck. Other tables are crammed with players, the people behind them shifting to look over their shoulders, and you hear the loud clasp of a hand and the cheer of the table, "Blackjack!"
Some tables are hot, some are just warming up, and some are presided over by a cruel dealer who seems to have the luck that any player would crave.
The truth is it is all in the cards, each one shuffled meticulously by man or machine and dealt out randomly. The dealer has the same luck you do.

    THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL-AIR
THE ULTIMATE TRIVIA AND CURIOUS FACTS COLLECTION

    CREATED BY TRIVIA HUB

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is an American television sitcom created by Andy and Susan Borowitz, airing on NBC from 1990 to 1996. The series stars Will Smith as a fictionalized version of himself, a street-smart teen from West Philadelphia who moves in with his wealthy relatives in Bel-Air. The show humorously explores the clash between Will's working-class background and his relatives' upper-class lifestyle. The sitcom was a top hit for NBC, running for 148 episodes over six seasons, and is considered to be a watershed moment for hip-hop and Black television. The series led to a reunion special and a dramatic reboot titled Bel-Air.

    CURIOUS FACT SAMPLES:

The show's premise was based on the life of Benny Medina, who grew up poor but then lived with a wealthy family, but the show changed the family to a rich Black family so it could explore black-on-black prejudice and class differences. The series was created by Andy and Susan Borowitz, and they based the cousins on Quincy Jones' daughters.

Will Smith, who was known as one half of the hip-hop duo DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince, was in debt due to unpaid taxes when he was offered a role in the show. He met Benny Medina by chance and then auditioned for NBC chief Brandon Tartikoff on the spot, securing a contract that night in a limo.

The pilot episode was written and taped in about three weeks. The show's theme song, "Yo Home to Bel Air," was written and performed by Will Smith under his stage name, with music composed by Quincy Jones.

Weren't they richer, rock pools, wasn't the seashore busier, when I was a kid?

Richard Smyth had always been drawn to the natural world, but when he became a father he found a new joy and a new urgency in showing his kids the everyday wild things around them. As he and his children explore rockpools in Whitley Bay, or the woods and moors near his Yorkshire home, he imagines the world they might inhabit as they grow up.

Through different objects discovered on their wanderings - a beech leaf, a jay feather, a limpetshell - Smyth examines his own past as well as that of the early natural historians, weaving together history, memoir, and environmentalism to form a new kind of nature writing: one that asks both what we have lost, and what we have yet to find.
