Beschreibung

Wuthering Heights is a novel by Emily Bronte. Wuthering Heights is the name of the farmhouse on the Yorkshire moors where the story unfolds. The book's core theme is the destructive effect that jealousy and vengefulness have, both on the jealous or vengeful individuals and on their communities. Wuthering Heights is now widely regarded as a classic of English literature. When first published it was considered controversial because its depiction of mental and physical cruelty was unusually stark, and it challenged strict Victorian ideals of the day, including religious hypocrisy, morality, social classes and gender inequality.

In the story, the brilliant consulting detective Sherlock Holmes is asked to investigate the disappearance of the ten-year-old son of the Duke of Holdernesse. The boy went missing from a prestigious private boarding school in the north of England a few days earlier. A teacher is known to have gone missing from the school at the same time, although what connection he has with the boy's disappearance is unclear. The case is further complicated when the teacher is found dead. The teacher is found on damp marshland, having obviously been savagely beaten by a man. However, the only tracks visible near his body are those of cows.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle included "The Adventure of the Priory School" in a list of his twelve favorite Sherlock Holmes short stories which he compiled for The Strand magazine in 1927.

It is winter in the Cotswolds and a suspicious death has occurred. Psychic medium ‘Madame Zelda’ is found dead on Christmas morning, an open box of chocolates by her side. DCI Hayley Pascal and her new oppo, DS Artie Frobisher, have little to occupy themselves over the dead time that is Christmas at Oxford Police Station, until the chocolates are found to contain a poisonous substance. Cold cases can wait. They now have a new case to solve: one of MURDER.
There are no shortage of suspects: the victim’s feckless husband Charlie, her simple-minded son Luke and Grant Vaughan, the man she has cut out of his mother’s will. Added to these complications, Hayley Pascal is missing her daughter, who lives with her ex-husband in Paris and who has promised to visit her at New Year, but doesn’t. Here is a straightforward murder mystery in the tradition of Agatha Christie, but it is also a story of ordinary people driven to drastic measures through loneliness, misery and the need for revenge.

David Copperfield is a novel by Charles Dickens, first published in serial form between 1849 and 1850 and later as a complete book in 1850. It is widely regarded as one of Dickens's most beloved works and is often considered semi-autobiographical, reflecting many aspects of the author's own life. The story is narrated by the titular character, David Copperfield, who recounts his journey from childhood to adulthood.
David Copperfield is born in Blunderstone, Suffolk, six months after his father's death. His early years are spent in relative happiness with his mother, Clara, and their devoted housekeeper, Peggotty. This idyllic childhood is shattered when Clara marries the cruel Mr. Edward Murdstone, who imposes a strict regime on the household alongside his equally harsh sister. After a series of abusive encounters, David is sent away to Salem House, a boarding school run by the sadistic Mr. Creakle.
