Sinopse

Lottie is a small and scalable JSON-based animation file. LottieFiles is the platform where Lottie animations can be uploaded, tested, and shared. By combining the LottieFiles plugin and the LottieFiles platform, you’ll be able to create stunning animations that are easy to integrate in any device. You’ll also see how to use the Bodymovin plugin in After Effects to export your animation to a JSON file.
The book starts by giving you an overview of Lottie and LottieFiles. As you keep reading, you’ll understand the entire Lottie ecosystem and get hands-on with classic 2D animation principles. You’ll also get a step-by-step guided tour to ideate, sketch for storytelling, design an icon that will fulfill the needs and expectations of users based on UX, and finally animate it in Adobe After Effects. This will help you get familiar with the After Effects environment, work with vector shape layers, create and modify keyframes using layer properties, explore path and mask features, and adjust timing easily to create professional-looking animations.
By the end of this animation book, you’ll be able to create and export your own Lottie animations using After Effects and implement them in mobile apps using React Native. You’ll also have an understanding of 2D animation best practices and principles that you can apply in your own projects.

Genetic testing has become one of the most talked-about advancements in modern science, promising insights into health, ancestry, and even future risks for inherited conditions. With the rise of at-home DNA testing kits and their widespread availability, more people than ever are exploring what their genetic code can reveal. But behind the promise of knowledge lies a complex web of ethical concerns, privacy risks, and limitations that many consumers are unaware of. While genetic testing can be a powerful tool for medical advancements and personalized healthcare, it also raises important questions about how this information is used, who has access to it, and what unintended consequences may arise.
At its core, genetic testing analyzes DNA to identify mutations, traits, or predispositions that can impact a person’s health and well-being. Initially developed for medical use, these tests have expanded beyond hospitals and research labs, becoming a booming industry catering to consumers who want to know more about their ancestry or potential health risks. Companies market these tests as a way to take control of one’s future, offering data on everything from nutrition and fitness compatibility to risks for serious diseases. However, the accuracy and reliability of these consumer-grade tests vary, and their results can sometimes lead to unnecessary panic or false reassurance. Furthermore, genetic testing is not always as straightforward as it seems—genes interact in complex ways, and not all findings have clear implications for an individual’s health.
One of the most pressing concerns surrounding genetic testing is privacy. The information encoded in DNA is highly personal, yet many people provide their genetic data to testing companies without fully understanding how it may be stored, shared, or sold.

When Derek Yu released Spelunky for free in 2008, his roguelike-inspired platformer took the indie game community by storm with its combination of classic platform mechanics, extreme difficulty, and random level generation. Four years later, Spelunky's HD remake went on to become PC Gamer's Game of the Year and earn perfect scores from Polygon and Eurogamer. But how is a "perfect" game made?

Spelunky is Boss Fight's first autobiographical book: the story of a game's creation as told by its creator. Using his own game as a vehicle, Derek Yu discusses such wide-ranging topics as randomization, challenge, indifferent game worlds, player feedback, development team dynamics, and what's required to actually finish a game. Grab some ropes, a mattock, and your favorite pug—this book is going to dig deep.
