A standalone story set in the New York Times-bestselling Greenwild universe! It's been ten years since the events of the original trilogy, and a new magical threat brings eleven-year-old Annika Marina to the far reaches of the frozen world as she fights for the future of blue magic. Eleven-year-old Annika may be heir to the ocean-ruled kingdom of Iffenwild, but she’d much rather be sailing with her traveling theater troupe than learning how to be queen. But when her beloved uncle Max—the king—returns gravely injured from a secret mission to the Utter North, her world shifts in an instant.Determined to find a long-lost cure, Annika journeys into the frozen North—a land of towering ice cliffs, frozen seas, and powerful ice magic. But the deeper she ventures, the clearer it becomes that something far darker is stirring. If Annika fails, it won’t just be her uncle’s life at stake—it will be the fate of the entire magical world.

The Monsters by Robert Sheckley - Cordovir and Hum encounter a mysterious metallic object balancing on fire! As they debate its origins, a chilling realization sets in: what lurks inside could challenge everything they know about morality and truth.
Robert Sheckley was born on July 16, 1928, in Brooklyn, New York. Sheckley developed an avid interest in reading and storytelling, particularly drawn to the burgeoning genre of science fiction. This passion was nurtured by the pulp magazines of the era, which introduced him to the works of writers like H.G. Wells, Isaac Asimov, and Ray Bradbury.
Sheckley sold his first story, "Final Examination," to Imagination magazine in 1952. This marked the beginning of a prolific period in his career, during which he became a regular contributor to major science fiction magazines such as Galaxy Science Fiction and The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction. His breakthrough came with the publication of his first novel, Immortality, Inc., in 1958. The book explored the concept of life extension and the moral and societal implications of immortality. It was well-received and cemented Sheckley's reputation as a writer who could blend humor with profound philosophical questions.
One of his most famous works, The Status Civilization (1960), is a satirical exploration of a dystopian society where criminal behavior is the norm.
In addition to his novels, Sheckley was a master of the short story. His short stories were not only entertaining but also thought-provoking, often challenging readers to reconsider their assumptions about society and human nature.

Professor Malcolm McDougal has lived in Coventry all his life. He’s a good Christian man, but sometimes he finds his faith being challenged. The professor is known for all kinds of inventions, his latest being a time travel machine. He’s determined to go back to the first Christmas and see for himself if it happened as the Bible tells us. He sets the timer on the machine, but before he can step inside and venture on his journey back in time, he’s distracted by carollers at the front door. While he is listening to the singing, his three dogs, always mischievous, are attracted to the time machine and find themselves trapped inside and going on a journey back in time. They are confused and the professor is saddened, afraid he’ll never see his beloved dogs again.
Laurence M. Haynes’s picture book story, The Christmas Time Travelers 1, is a sweet, endearing story that interweaves faith and fantasy, and science fiction all into a compelling tale of the first Christmas. The plot follows the professor’s interest in witnessing Jesus’s birth, to strengthen his faith, but the plot also follows the three dogs as they follow the shepherds into the stable in Bethlehem where the baby Jesus is cradled by his mother. Unknowingly, one of the dogs brings the professor the proof he needs to restore and strengthen his faith. But, do we really need proof to support our faith? Are we all a doubting Thomas? Faith is belief without proof, is it not? The author finishes the story with a quote from John when Jesus says, “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” The illustrations are charming and help move the story along. A great way to share the Christmas story with young readers and help them understand the beauty of the Christian faith. Loved it!
