Beschreibung

⚡ What if an entire nation's soul was captured in song?

Compiled by Elias Lönnrot in the 19th century, The Kalevala is Finland's national epic—a breathtaking tapestry of myth, folklore, and poetry drawn from centuries of oral tradition. Its verses recount the adventures of heroes, shamans, and tricksters in a land of magic, where songs wield power, rivers sparkle with mystery, and the fate of kingdoms rests on the forging of the legendary Sampo.

At once lyrical and epic, tragic and humorous, The Kalevala reflects timeless themes of love, rivalry, creation, and destiny. More than a collection of tales, it is the very heartbeat of Finnish cultural identity, influencing writers, artists, and composers from J. R. R. Tolkien to Jean Sibelius.

🌟 Why readers treasure The Kalevala:

A world-class epic often compared to Homer's Iliad and Odyssey.

Rich in myth, folklore, and archetypal heroes.

An enduring source of inspiration for literature, music, and art.

Sapiens became a #1 international bestseller and a New York Times bestseller for simple reasons…
(Notice: This is a SUMMARY of Yuval Noah Harari’s bestseller, Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind.)
Unlike other macroscopic reviews of human history, Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind combines the best research into history with recent discoveries in biology and archaeology and complementary disciplines of science. It provides a unique point of view on how we got to where we are today – and what that means for us as a species.
Dr. Yuval Noah Harari traces the development of consciousness, above all else. 100,000 years ago Homo Sapiens were insignificant animals – but today they dominate the planet. At some point, the evolution of thinking superseded biological evolution. Much of our 'success' hinges on the importance of the myths and legends – the fictions of our imagination that have played such a vital role in the development of culture, ideology, religion, economics, science – instead of our pure biological traits.
Reading our summary is the perfect way to cover the full material and grasp the essential insights of Dr. Harari’s research in a fraction of the time. If you find Dr. Harari’s concepts enticing, we highly advise you to buy the full audiobook!

Judea is one of the most important regions in the modern world. It is the center of two of the world’s great religions and extremely important to a 3rd. Politically, the whole area is the focus of conflict between Jews and Arabs, as well as different Muslim sects. Its history is littered with wars, insurrections, and religious revolutions. To say that it has had a turbulent past is to understate the case in the extreme.
The history of Judea is, of course, inextricably linked to the history of the Jewish people, their dispersal throughout the Mediterranean world, and their reestablishment of the modern state of Israel in the wake of the horrors of the Holocaust. And among all the tumultuous events associated with Jewish history, few can rival the period of Roman rule during the 1st century A.D., when Roman attempts to suppress Jewish nationalism met with violent resistance. Ultimately, the Romans forcibly removed much of the Jewish population from the region, setting the scene for later events that have impacted so directly on world history. Events in the region during the 1st century A.D. also brought about the birth of Christianity, a religious movement that has been at the forefront of European history ever since.
The small area around Jerusalem was originally known to the ancient Greeks as Ioudaioi, hence the name Judea. An Iron Age kingdom is said, in the Bible, to have existed as a successor to the United Kingdom of Israel, which, it is claimed, existed from approximately 1010-930 B.C.. Two kingdoms, Judah in the south and Israel in the north, co-existed uneasily, with frequent outbreaks of war between them in the following years. Judah was invaded by the Egyptian Pharaoh, Shishak, in the 5th year of Rehoboam’s reign, and Jerusalem was sacked. Rehoboam gave the Egyptians all of the nation’s treasure and became an Egyptian vassal.
