  Robert Duncan Milne was born on 7th June 1844 in Cupar in Fife, Scotland. 
   
  Little is known of the life of this extraordinary author who created some of the most appealing science fiction stories ever written.   
   
  As an adult he lived in San Francisco and wrote short stories for local newspapers and periodicals of the time and principally for The Argonaut, the political and literary newspaper heavyweight of the area. 
   
  Robert Duncan Milne died in San Francisco, California on 15th December 1899.  He was 55. 
   
  Into the Sun is a compelling narrative of what happens when the doomed Earth falls into the sun.  Is survival possible?

  Last Post is the fourth and final installment of Ford Madox Ford's Parade's End tetralogy, a work that Ford hoped would contribute to the obviating of all future wars. The story follows Christopher Tietjens, a wealthy British landowner and the last British Tory; his wife, Sylvia; and his mistress, Valentine Wannop. The final entry of Parade's End continues to depict the challenges of navigating a social and political landscape utterly upended by the Great War. Through the eyes of multiple characters, Last Post contextualizes or re-contextualizes the events of previous installments—particularly those surrounding Armistice Day.  
  Unique among other literary works depicting the Great War, the Parade's End tetralogy privileges not the conflict of World War I itself, but the impact the war had on its participants and upon society writ large. It is often referred to as one of the greatest 20th century novels, and one of the best depictions of war in literature. The 2012 television adaptation, written by Tom Stoppard and starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Rebecca Hall, was nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards and seven BAFTA Television Awards.

'The Wilful Woman' remained unfinished and so the tough, spoiled, rich American woman, used to having her own way, does not get the nemesis Lawrence may have had in mind for her. Whether it was the Wordsworthian lessons of nature as she battles her way through the American wilderness or the harder lessons of a waiting husband who may or may not want her, we will never know.

  It is difficult to propose a more gifted exponent of the short story than Kate Chopin. Her individual jewels may be but a few pages but are laden with atmosphere and character as they run their enchanted course.  Her genius will always endure.
