  Empathy is the ability to emotionally understand what other people are going through, see things through their eyes, and put yourself in their shoes. Essentially, it is placing yourself in another person's shoes and experiencing what they are experiencing. When you witness someone suffering, you may be able to imagine yourself in their shoes and empathize with their situation. While most people are aware of their own sentiments and emotions, getting into another person's head can be more difficult. People who can empathize can "walk a mile in another's shoes," as it were. It enables people to comprehend the feelings of others.Watching another person suffering and reacting with apathy or even hate is unfathomable for many people. However, some people who respond this way plainly show empathy is not a universal response to others' pain. Empathy is thought to have crucial neurological components, according to research. The ability to mirror and duplicate the emotional responses that others would feel if they were in comparable conditions. While empathy can sometimes falter, most people can sympathize with others in many scenarios. This ability to perceive things from someone else's point of view and empathize with their feelings is crucial in our social lives. Empathy permits us to comprehend others and, in many cases, motivates us to act to alleviate another's suffering.

  European Imperialism in China:...

  During the 15th century, China had become economically and technologically advanced compared to civilizations in Europe at the time, and its fleet, which had reached a total of 3,500 ships, was unmatched by any other world power. Nevertheless, after conducting several trade expeditions with the massive fleet, the Chinese ships were either burned in the docks or left to rot. With that, China began to revert to the xenophobic policies of its past and reduce its presence in other lands. By 1525, the largest naval fleet in the world had essentially been destroyed or dismantled by China itself.  
  While China was in the process of isolating itself from the rest of the world, the European explorers were beginning to discover new lands, such as North America and South America. Among the countries doing the most exploring during this time were the Portuguese. The Portuguese had reached India in 1498, and by 1509 they had established part of their empire in India. This allowed the Portuguese to have a base of operations to further expand east into Asia. In 1511, the Portuguese captured the large spice trading center of Malacca in Malaysia, and like their base in India, Malacca allowed the Portuguese to have a foothold, thereby providing access to China and Southeast Asia. 
  The location of Macau was beneficial and strategically chosen by the Portuguese, as it was in close communication with Guangzhou and connected via a river system. In contrast to their earlier dealings with the Chinese, the Portuguese attempted to appear more humble and comply with the wishes of the Chinese rather than with force. As it turned out, the policy, in conjunction with increased European activities in the region, would help the Portuguese Empire hold on to Macau even as its fortunes dwindled everywhere else across the world.

  The Ghana Empire, also known as Wagadou, emerged as one of the earliest and most influential states in West Africa. Situated in the Sahel region, between the Senegal and Niger rivers, it thrived in an environment that was both challenging and advantageous for settlement and expansion. The Soninke people, who founded the empire, played a crucial role in establishing a political and economic system that allowed Ghana to dominate the region for centuries. 
  The origins of the Ghana Empire can be traced to the migrations and settlements of the Soninke, a Mande-speaking group, who gradually organized themselves into small communities. These communities initially relied on agriculture, herding, and local trade but soon recognized the value of the trans-Saharan trade routes that passed through their territory. The strategic location of Ghana, near valuable gold deposits and trade routes, allowed it to grow into a powerful state. The Soninke clans, under the leadership of a ruling dynasty, established centralized control, which set the foundation for the empire’s expansion. 
  The political structure of early Ghana was based on a hierarchical system, with the king, known as the Ghana, at the top. The title "Ghana" was both a royal designation and a symbol of authority. The king served as the supreme leader, making key decisions related to governance, trade, and military strategy. His power was reinforced by a council of elders and advisors, often drawn from the nobility and influential families. This system enabled stability and continuity, which contributed to the long-term success of the empire.
