Synopsis

It's been years since language was outlawed. Speech, writing, all sacrificed for the sake of Unity.

A small-town teacher dying from cancer can't remember the last time she spoke to her husband. Their life has been filled with resentment and tragedy, but burying their grievances in the silence helps them endure.

They both have hard decisions to make when Corvo – a living crime – breaks into their farmhouse. Unlike other children, her vocal cords haven't been removed at birth. Words rush back into the couple’s lives and, for the first time in years, they'll have to face the damage silence has done to them.

If that doesn't destroy them, the town's Sheriff will. She sees Corvo as a chance to regain some sanity in a world she herself helped make silent, and will stop at nothing to get her.

Amanda Clarke thinks of herself as perfectly ordinary in every way. Just a small-town girl who serves breakfast all day in a little diner nestled next to the highway, nothing but dairy farms for miles around. She fits in there.
But then an old woman she never met dies, and Amanda was named in her will. Now Amanda packs a bag and heads to the big city, to Miss Zenobia Weekes’ Charm School for Exceptional Young Ladies. And it’s not in just any neighborhood. No, she finds herself on Summit Avenue in St. Paul, a street lined with gorgeous old houses, the former homes of lumber barons, railroad millionaires, even the writer F. Scott Fitzgerald. Why, Amanda can practically hear the jazz music still playing across the decades.
Scratch that. The music really, literally, still plays in the backyard of the charm school. Because the house stretches across time itself. Without a witch to protect this tear in the fabric of the world, anything can spill over. Like music.
    Or like murder.
“Charm School”, Book 1 in the Witches Three Cozy Mystery series. This mélange of magic and murder mystery is sure to charm you.

Tanner enlists the help of brilliant American cyber security expert Ashley Markham, but the attacks only worsen. The only clue to the hacker’s intentions... cryptic daily emails, centred on Hieronymus Bosch’s medieval representation of the seven deadly sins.

One wrong decision. One death. One missing person. One clear suspect.

Mina Banksy, a thirty-two-year-old author and mother of a rambunctious three-year-old, is still reeling from a recent divorce and what she calls an "early midlife crisis" when two Chicago detectives show up at her door looking for her friend, Dylan. Or, more accurately, the van that she allowed him to register in her name, because Dylan—a friend from her former Jiu Jitsu gym—is a recently recovered addict and convicted felon. According to the cops, Dylan is not so reformed after all: the van has been under suspicion for criminal activities, and she may be in trouble for it.

Flustered by the stressful meeting, Mina calls Matthew, a cop who she'd had an affair with six months earlier, causing a scandal at their close-knit gym as well as instigating her divorce and his relocation to Arizona. Matthew tells her to cut all ties with Dylan and report the van missing. Instead, Mina tries to track down Dylan at the rehab where he lives. She finds him dead, and the nature of his injuries make it appear the murderer is someone well-versed in Jiu Jitsu. When Mina's ex-husband also turns up missing, and Matthew returns to Chicago, every member of the gym—current and past—becomes a suspect, and somehow all roads lead back to Mina Banksy.

Part unlikely romance and part murder mystery, set inside the eclectic subculture of martial arts, BREAKFALL is an exploration of sexual desire, motherhood, and marriage in modern times.

Nebula-award winning author Mike Conner presents a novel about a world that all of us can recognize, a world of what might have been. In Minneapolis in the 1930’s, the deadly plague that ended the First World War is decimating the population. The only people who seem to be immune to its effects are black people. What does this mean for the future of the city—and of the nation? Young newsman Danny Constantine finds that not everyone is dying from the plague. He has discovered a series of bizarre deaths—murders that look like the work of a vampire. In these times of bad news, his own paper refuses to print the story and Danny must search for the truth on his own, except for a mysterious woman known only as archangel, who always seems to appear when needed most.
