Beschreibung

Over the last few years, how many uncomfortable conversations have you had – or avoided – about politics, religion, social issues, or even how to raise the kids? After all, these are the types of conversations that can quickly evoke a visceral response. Your body becomes tense; you feel a knot in your stomach and a lump in your throat. Anxiety builds, and everything from your conversation partner’s perspective causes you to feel enraged. It’s at that moment that you’ve discovered that your opinions are polar opposite, and you can’t – or aren’t willing to - understand their position. As your anxiety rises, you fear that anything you say will turn a simple discussion into a contentious debate that ends in frustration and division. This doesn’t have to happen.Utilizing her proprietary, research-based five-point framework called the ACTER model, Dr. Summer Allen’s methodology enables you to remain calm and open to learning no matter how challenging your conversation partner may be. ACTER teaches readers a set of skills centered around the acronym:A—Appreciating diversity of opinionsC—CuriosityT—TriggersE—Emotional regulationR—Respectful listeningWhen properly applied, the steps in the ACTER model help take the stress out of engaging in courageous conversations and allow readers to hear and better understand their conversation partner’s point of view objectively, as well as how to effectively express their own. The ACTER model skills are straightforward, and readers are encouraged to take small steps and apply each of the practices to achieve mastery while recognizing that conversations can be unpredictable. The release of Lose the Debateis right on time. The existing ideological tensions within our society are inflaming conversations between family members, friends, colleagues, and neighbors. Yet, living in an echo chamber creates silos that can damage relationships and prevent us from learning and engaging in meaningful dialogue.Drawing on her experience and extensive research, Dr. Allen explains that one uncomfortable conversation at a time is actually the only way to heal our divides. The book Lose the Debategives readers the skills and confidence to have those conversations and, in the process, learn more about themselves and others. As the founder and leader of a management consulting firm whose purpose is to help people become more emotionally intelligent in every aspect of life, Dr. Summer Allen’s business is built on training others to engage in courageous conversations and increase their emotional intelligence. Such discussions are often centered around starkly differing opinions and beliefs. In her book,InLose the Debate: A Practical Guide to Emotional Intelligence and Successful Dialogue, Dr. Allen applies her fifteen years of experience training Fortune 500 leaders, entertainers, and politicians and shares how to navigate conversations on tough topics and unfamiliar territory and reach positive outcomes that are based on understanding and respect.

An ironically upbeat book that asks some of today's most inimitable musicians which song they would choose to be the last one they ever hear

If you could choose the last song you'd hear before you died, what would it be and why? Your favorite song of all time? Perhaps the one you danced to at your wedding? The song from that time you got super stoned and just let the chords speak to you? It's a hard question that Mike Ayers has thought about for years.

In One Last Song, Ayers invites thirty musicians to consider what song they would each want to accompany them to those pearly white gates. Weaving together their explanations with evocative illustrations and poignant interludes—what your song to die to says about you, what songs famous people have died to, and more. The book offers insight into the minds of famous artists and provides an entry point for considering how integral music is to our own personal narratives.

The Awakened Empath Bundle, 2 in 1 Bundle: Empath's Survival Guide and Empath AbilitiesPeople have common misconceptions about being empathetic and being an empath. To state the obvious, these are two different concepts. Being empathetic is when our hearts feel for another individual who is going through a period of crisis. Empathy gives us the power to think about, understand, and care about each other. Empath people, however, detect their energy, emotions, and physiological symptoms in them. They are usually more accurate in recognizing emotions just by looking through their body language. They are also more likely to acknowledge emotions prior to others and rate those emotions as being more intense. In this bundle, you will learn how to build and enhance your empathy. It will teach you sensible and time-tested tips you can use to rise above personal biases and become kinder, more forgiving, more accepting, and more loving toward other people. It will also be a guide for empaths. This 2 in 1 bundle includes the following audiobooks:1. Empath's Survival Guide: An Empath's Guide on How to Become Emotionally and Spiritually Healthy to Be the Best Version of Yourself2. Empath Abilities: Learn About the Power of Empathy and How it Can Significantly Enrich Your Life Plus Tips on How to Enhance Your EmpathyIf you want to learn more, download your copy of The Awakened Empath Bundle today!

Nazi Germany, June 1943, Buchenwald concentration camp. The last place you'd expect to find any form of justice. And yet justice against the SS men who brutalised the prisoners here would be attempted by the unlikeliest of sources – SS officer Konrad Morgen.
Nazi Germany, despite the atrocities it carried out on an industrial scale, still had legislation and a legal system, and Morgen used these laws to bring individual members of the SS to justice for their crimes. He was a fearless investigating judge and police official, and when he crossed swords with more powerful forces inside the SS, he was demoted and sent by Heinrich Himmler himself to the Eastern Front as an ordinary soldier in the Waffen SS.
But Morgen's skills were still required and he returned to launch a series of criminal investigations in various concentration camps, including Buchenwald. As a direct result of his work, two concentration camp commandants were shot before the end of the war and he arrested three others. Targets of his investigations included Adolf Eichmann, one of the architects of the Holocaust, and Rudolf Höss, the infamous commandant of Auschwitz.
Described by historian John Toland as 'the man who did the most to hinder the atrocities in the East', Konrad Morgen pursued Nazi Germany's worst murderers from inside the SS. This is his incredible true story.

Is the New World Order merely a fringe conspiracy theory—or is it a chilling reality unfolding right before our eyes? This book dares you to uncover the truth.
As humanity spirals further into social and political chaos, the warning signs—so many times broadcast and ignored—have become impossible to dismiss. We've been lulled into complacency, manipulated by fear, and distracted by carefully orchestrated lies. All the while, a hidden agenda advances in the shadows: the rise of a totalitarian one-world regime.
Through propaganda, psychological manipulation, and mass distraction, the architects of this New World Order have managed to keep the population in a trance-like state—obedient, compliant, and unaware. But this book is a wake-up call. Within these pages lies the information they don't want you to see.
It exposes what has already been done, what is happening right now beneath the surface, and—most disturbingly—what comes next. The truth is both shocking and undeniable.
Many of the warnings revealed may seem outrageous at first glance. But don't be so quick to dismiss them—because they are real. Once you've read this book from cover to cover, you'll see the world through different eyes. You'll realize how thoroughly we've been deceived, conditioned, and controlled—to obey, consume, submit, and never question authority.
The trance must be broken. And the truth is the key.

We love God. We love our country. What does it look like to love each properly and well?National tensions are at a record high. People on all points in the political spectrum care deeply about their country, although they differ wildly in their opinions about what it looks like to serve that country well. As Christians, we love God and seek to follow him. At the same time, nothing shapes us and tugs at our loyalties quite like the place we live. And of course we are regularly encouraged to pledge our allegiance to our country―or particular understandings of it. Who wins when the priorities of God and our country clash? In Kingdom and Country, a collection of leading Christian thinkers and practitioners take a holistic approach to considering the questions of patriotism, nationalism, and where our ultimate loyalties must like. Contributors include Alejandro Mandes, Juliet Liu, Ryan Tafilowski, Derek Vreeland, Rod Wilson, Michelle Reyes, Amanda Smith, Karen Wilk, Sean Palmer, and Tina BoeschKingdom and Country is the second in a series of Kingdom Conversations, books that bring together trusted Christian voices to address some of the most urgent and perplexing challenges of our time in timeless and redemptive ways.
