In desperation, I told the eleven year old that I would tell her the most boring story that ever existed, and used some of my training from Yoga Nidra to help her feel relaxed while paying attention to the story. I indulged in some fun archetypal symbolism and larger than life ideas, and then altered my cadence very slowly to induce sleep. It worked within five minutes. Over the next few weeks I honed the skill and tested it on other children and adults, and soon enough I had a very successful tool to alleviate insomnia.
