A riveting journey from darkness to redemption, Doctor Sleep follows a haunted man who transforms his own battle with addiction into a mission of mercy, using his “shining” gift to ease the dying and protect the innocent. When he mentors a prodigy besieged by a predatory cult of psychic vampires, their bond ignites a high-stakes confrontation that tests the limits of courage, empathy, and self‐mastery. This audiobook weaves edge‐of‐your‐seat supernatural suspense with powerful insights on resilience, mentorship, and the disciplined practices that turn personal struggle into purposeful leadership. Perfect for listeners seeking both heart‐stirring drama and actionable frameworks for thriving under pressure.

COW CITY: The wind-whipped grass rippled in the field. Spring had come early, the sunshine and showers producing a tall, healthy crop. Tomorrow, all this luscious ripeness was to be mown and gathered, stored and fed over the coming year to the captive cows in their perpetually lit sheds. It would be the first cut of the season.

The story traces the history of the titular street in a New England city, presumably Boston, from its first beginnings as "but a path" in colonial times to a quasi-supernatural occurrence in the years immediately following World War I. As the city grows up around the street, it is planted with many trees and built along with "simple, beautiful houses of brick and wood", each with a rose garden. As the Industrial Revolution runs its course, the area degenerates into a run-down and polluted slum, with all of the street's old houses falling into disrepair.
After World War I and the October Revolution, the area becomes home to a community of Russian immigrants. Among the new residents is the leadership of a "vast band of terrorists," who are plotting the destruction of the United States on Independence Day. When the day arrives, the terrorists gather to do the deed, but before they can get started, all the houses in the street collapse concurrently on top of each other, killing them all. Observers at the scene testify that immediately after the collapse, they experienced visions of the trees and rose gardens that had once been in the street.

London, 1883. The brutal murder of Rose Parmiter seems, at first glance, to be a random and senseless act. Rose was the beloved cook at Evergreen House, a place of refuge for women and children, a place from which they can start their lives afresh. Proprietor Rebecca Harris, is profoundly shocked by the death of her dear friend and alarmed at the mysterious events which begin to unfold shortly afterwards. Could the past be casting a shadow on the present? The malign legacy of the Everley family who called Evergreen home, cannot be ignored. After two further deaths it becomes clear there is an evil presence infecting their sanctuary, and Rebecca must draw out the poison of the past so the Evergreen residents can finally make peace with the darkness in their lives.

Some sins don't die quietly. One careless, drunken night, Erica kills her best friend and buries the truth beneath layers of lies. Another woman, Jasmine, has blood on her hands. Two women. Two deadly secrets. But the dead don't stay buried.
When their paths collide, an ancient darkness awakens something old and hungry, drawn to their guilt like a scent in the dark. Whispers echo in empty rooms. Shadows move when no one's looking. And a demon with a grin like broken glass toys with them both, twisting their crimes into a nightmare they can't escape.
Erica wants redemption. Jasmine wants wealth. But the darkness wants them both, and it won't stop until they've paid for every drop of blood they spilled.
Run. Hide. Confess. Nothing can save them now. The darkness is waiting, and it's hungry!

Reggie Oliver is a stage actor and playwright. His biography of Stella Gibbons was praised as "a triumph" by Hilary Spurling in the Daily Telegraph, his play Winner Takes All, was described as "the funniest evening in London", by Michael Billington in The Guardian, and his adaptation of Hennequin and Delacour's Once Bitten opened at the Orange Tree Theatre in London in December 2010.
MR. PIGSNY: It was, I suppose, a typical gangster's funeral. There were the extravagantly insincere floral tributes: TO REG, A DIAMOND GEEZER in white carnations; there was 'My Way' played by the reluctant organist; there was the coffin borne by six burly, blackcoated
thugs into a church which Reg would never have entered in his lifetime except to marry or to bury.
