Synopsis
When city kids Saanvi and Zarek arrive at their grandmother’s ranch on the Great Plains, they find fragile prairie threatened by wind erosion and choking shrubs. Under the guidance of rangeland ecologist Dr. Liora, they measure grass roots, spy on swift foxes with remote cameras, and follow prairie dog tunnels that breathe life into the soil. After a fierce windstorm exposes bare earth, they plant native cover crops, run water-infiltration tests, and map meadowlark nesting sites. By organizing a “Blowout Prevention Day,” they teach their community to rotate grazing, build windbreaks, and protect one of Earth’s most endangered ecosystems—proving that science and stewardship go hand in hand.
