Beschreibung

The aim of this book is to introduce to birds through entertainment and education. Having fun with birds in these twelve humorous, catchy and 'crazy' short stories will hopefully cement an impression in the mind of each child that will remain with them as they develop and grow. I have observed that reading to small children is most important and that it can sow a seed for the future. When children are older and can read for themselves they can then enjoy the 'crazy' stories and discover some interesting facts about a 'real' bird that is related to the fictitious one. This introduction to birds will hopefully encourage children and parents alike to seek and discover more about the large range of birds species that Australia and this planet of ours, have to offer.

Since relocating from Coleraine in Western Victoria to Mackay in North Central Queensland in 1996, I soon discovered a diverse range of habitats including bushland, wetland, rainforest and beaches, all within an eighty-kilometer radius of the town. Of the many bird species that I've observed here, I selected twelve to feature in this book.

Unlike other biographies, the Making of America series goes beyond individual narratives linking influential figures to create an overarching story of America's growth that will deepen understanding of the country we live in today. This bundle featuring Alexander Hamilton, Abraham Lincoln, and Andrew Jackson tells the story of American constitutional history from the founding of the nation through the end of the Civil War. Listeners will begin by learning about Alexander Hamilton, a man who envisioned his country as a multi-racial, urbanized, capitalistic America with a strong central government. Hamilton's story epitomizes the American dream and leads nicely into the story of Andrew Jackson. Born in the Carolina backwoods, Jackson joined the American Revolutionary War at the age of thirteen. He then went on to become a consequential, polarizing figure in history. Finally, Abraham Lincoln's life and contributions are considered. One of America's most beloved presidents, Lincoln guided the United States through the Civil War, helped end slavery in America, and strengthened the federal government. Each historical figure discussed in this bundle made an everlasting impact on America's trajectory, and their contributions can be seen in almost every facet of our government.

A mystery spans decades at the Rehearsal Club in this story of sisterhood, friendship and following your dreams under marquee lights.

Twelve-year-old Pal Gallagher is a newly minted New Yorker who loves to make people laugh and is hoping to find kindred spirits in her new city. Her older sister, Naomi, lives at the Rehearsal Club, a historic boarding house for aspiring actresses. Pal quickly gets swept up in the glamor and high-stakes of the theater world, and is drawn into a decades-old mystery about Posy, a boarder who was kicked out of the Club for reasons unknown.

In 1954, Olive feels like she is working harder than anyone to make it to Broadway—along with the forty-four other young women who live at the Rehearsal Club. In comparison, her carefree friend Posy is making it look easy. Tensions rise when the two audition for the same part, kicking off a series of events that lead to Posy's departure.

What really happened all those years ago? The truth involves a Broadway play, a necklace, and a secret that Olive has kept all these years—until Pal and her new friends start digging into the past. What they learn could change the very fate of the Rehearsal Club itself.
