Synopsis

Hello all and thank you for purchasing my book, which I hope will inspire you to read and write some poetry of your own.
My name is Dr. Daniel Simon Pierre. I am originally from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, was raised in Montreal, Canada and now residing in the free state of Florida since July 1983.
My long journey as a writer started in 1987 in Albany, Georgia, while attending Turner Job Corp Center, Lockyear College, and Darton College. Unbeknown to me, when I started writing out of boredom, if my thoughts were good enough for someone to read or even if I would eventually become a writer someday.
To me writing allows me to express my deepest thoughts and feelings as I lose myself in a big ocean of dreams, the twilight zone of words, or a blossoming garden of alphabets. The reason for these analogies is, perhaps like others, good and also deep and hurtful personal things happened to me. Thus, writing and putting my feelings, emotions, and thoughts on paper allows me to express myself constructively, deal with the past, and overcome my burdens and hurtful times and moments.
Indeed, I hope that while and after reading my books you will perhaps experience the joy, ecstasy, and great feeling of well-being and fulfillment that I personally experience while putting my words on paper.

Featuring new translations of previously untranslated Chinese short stories, Memorandum maps out seven decades of Sinophone Singaporean Literature. From bargirls to student activists, from trishaw men to tea merchants, this collection provides a glimpse into a world that has been previously invisible to Anglophone readers. Paired with critical essays, these stories showcase the richness and diversity of Singapore’s Chinese community, but also its inherent interconnectedness with other cultures within Singapore.

“Memorandum is a pathbreaking anthology that refracts over half a century of Singapore’s history through its lens. The translated stories do much more than simply bridge Sinophone and Anglophone worlds: they actively cross geographical, cultural, linguistic and class boundaries, causing us to think more deeply about the nature of social power, and the transformative interventions literary texts can make.”

George de Clare thought moving to Manhattan would be an escape. Instead, it's become another performance.
Between failed relationships, awkward hookups, and the exhausting work of being "too British" for Americans and "not queer enough" for anyone, George is unravelling. A disastrous trip to Los Angeles with his boyfriend Charlie ends with George fleeing back to New York—alone, broke, and wondering if his queerness is a burden he'll carry forever.
But his best friend Jon sees it differently. What if being queer isn't the problem—it's the solution?
As George rebuilds his life, he learns to stop running from himself. He pitches his app to former hookups, recruits the influencer he once dismissed, and returns to the water that reminds him who he was before the chaos. From Brooklyn breakups to Pelham rowing clubs, George discovers that his identity isn't something to overcome—it's the thread connecting him to everyone who matters.
Too British, Not Queer Enough is a sharp, funny, achingly honest story about expat life, queer community, and learning that the parts of yourself you've been hiding might be exactly what sets you free.
Perfect for readers who loved Red, White & Royal Blue, Boyfriend Material, and David Sedaris's essays on cultural dislocation.

The book is written in a series of memory lane vignettes depicting memories of Selia’s life with an ex-wise guy. The book starts at the end of the story and through the vignettes of the ups and downs of living with him and how a person’s past can follow them wherever they go. The story ends where it started. The love story between the couple who met late in life is dramatic and quite heated. The depiction of how hospice helped Selia through her husband’s dying process was a dramatic life-learning situation.
