Astral projection is a term used in esotericism to describe an intentional out-of-body experience that assumes the existence of a soul called an "astral body" that is separate from the physical body and capable of traveling outside it throughout the universe. Here is the definitive classical Theosophical audiobook on a subject which has enthralled humankind since near the beginning of time. The author, Madam Helena Blavatsky was a Russian philosopher and author who co-founded the Theosophical Society in 1875. The tale of a man who is incapacitated by visions of the future and the cacophony of overheard thoughts, and yet who can't help trying to subvert his vividly glimpsed destiny, it is easy to read The Lifted Veil as being autobiographically revealing of Eliot's sensitivity to public opinion and her awareness that her days concealed behind a pseudonym were doomed to a tragic unveiling (as indeed came to pass soon after this novella's publication). But it is easier still to read the story as the exciting and genuine precursor of a moody new form, as well as an absorbing early masterpiece of suspense.

A classic tale from the inkwell of Joseph Conrad, the Secret Sharer is a short story set at sea. The narrator, a newly made Captain of his vessel, rescues a man he finds clinging to his ships rope-ladder. That man was once Chief Mate of a nearby ship, the Sephora, and is accused of murder during rough seas. What follows is a short but well formed tale about isolation, duality, and the struggle between the rational and irrational.
    Narrated by Michael Ward.
